question about the DA-50 egine

Default question about the DA-50 egine

hello
I have recently bought a brand new DA-50 engine
i have inspected the engine liner (piston sleeve) thgrough
the exhaust outlet. Ihave found few hair like lines on the liner
I want to know that is it normal to have these lines or is it a defective
engine plese reply any experts

Are the lines straight up and down like possible scratches ? Or are they
curled like a piece of thread. Reach in there with a really sharp pencil, and
see if the scratches are deep, or just appearance flaws. If they are deep
enough to feel with the pencil, you might want to send the engine back. []

They are probably the criss crossing honing marks, were they hone a bored out cylinder, If they look like hair line scratches that is probably honing.

If the piston has been run up and down at all there will be scratches on the cylinder wall. The cylinders are usually coated with a hard surface that the cast iron ring wears against. Unless the scratches are deep there is no cause for concern. What's deep is difficult to describe but any decent engine person would recognize it. BobH.

If the "scratch" is directly opposite the exhaust port it may be just the line of oil left where the piston ring ends are. Don't laugh, I had a DA50 returned to me because a customer thought there was a score on the cylinder bore. Stick a cotton bud in and see if it wipes away.
