Default Fusion-Yak hybrid?????

Mike: I have a Fusion 90 kit and had a brain storm. I really like the looks of the 65" yak fuse., but love how the fusion flies. Just a tad more than the Yak. But anyway. My question is this. What if I put the fusion wings on the Yak fuse? Use the Yaks tailfeathers, and fuse., then integrate the CF I beams in the Yak fuse and use the fusion wing holding system??

How do you think it would perform and look. Would the wings make it look bad or out of place? Anyway you can use some soft-ware to swap wings on a plane and look at it????

Thanks
Brent

Brent you need to do this! I always tell folks that trying new things and creating your own model is half the fun of this hobby. I think you have a great idea and personally I think it would fly fine. I would use photoshop or some picture program to get an idea of how it would look.

If anyone has photoshop. Could they make up a YAKFU`

OK folks. Building has commenced on the Yak-Fusion hybrid. The fuse is all layed up and I have the CF "I" beams glueing to the foam. All servo holes are cut in the foam etc. Shouldn't be long and it will be done.

I guess I wouldn't have to build the wings. I could just use the ones from my fusion. Wow. Just think Mike, a multi-purpose plane. It would be simple to change the Yak fuse over to how the fusion is constructed.

I think when it's all finished it shall look just fine and fly even better. Can't wait.

Ok folks, I didn't take lots of pics. Was in a hurry. Time is precious right now.

I made the fuse from the fusion kit. Adding wood where it was necisary and removing when needed. The wing is on the thrust line with the engine etc. The LE is in the same spot as the normal 65" Yak. I just built the fusion wings like normal except I didn't add the wing tips and capped the R8 rib with 1/8 balsa.

Right now is how she is. I need to add servos, all linkages, hatch, battery ect. I hope to finish it tonight or tomorrow sometime and maiden it Monday.

Just holler if you have any questions.

Hey Iowa, that looks outstanding! Mike could kit/arf it just the way it sits.

Saito 125 on the nose? Whose gear is that? Looks good.

Sorry for the delayed flight report. I can say this is awesome. A deffinate keeper. THis flight report is from a week ago. I posted it on the Pro Bro site. If you have any questions just holler.

Well I got the maiden done today. All went well. She flies great. Way better than with the thick wings. It tracks well and tumbles great. Knife edge is dead nuts on just like any 65" yak. A couple of things it does better are walls, waterfalls, and the best is a really violent parachute. I went half throttle, straight down, and just yanked the stick straight back and BAM! Went flat as a pancake and then floated down with almost zero wing rock. Harriers are way better. No wing rocking like I had with the old yak. Flat spins are so flat it's unreal. Hovering is a no brainer. That's about it so far.

The Saito 125: HMMMM. I've got mixed feeling about it so far. I know it's brand new and not even close to being broke in. I turned the needles in so it transitions pretty good. It is still a little slow though. Maybe a smidge more on the low end. I'm running a MAS 16-6 for FFFFF four strokes. I don't know, but I'm going to try an APC 16-6.

Too me it is guttless as hell and I'm not that happy with it. I am a YS guy and that's about all I have, so maybe I'm just biased. But uplines were slow as **** and didn't seem like it had tons of authority. I'll switch props and see if it wakes her up. And I'll run at least a gallon more thru her. OH. That's the other thing. DAMN, what a thirst engine. 10min. flights on 12or14oz's. **** my YS110 can give me 15min. or more and still have an oz or 2 left.

MIKE: I think it would be a wise choice to use the CF I beams on the yak and use the Fusion wings on it. It looks great and flies way way better. I think people would really go ape **** over it. Would be a really easy mod for you to design up. Plus it's the same wing for both planes, I just took the wing tips off.

If anyone likes the 65" yak and was a little disapointed in it. Try out the fusion wings. You won't be sorry!!!!!!!!!

Um, well can't quite do that. But will you be going to Nashville PB? I might be going there or Effingham, Il.
