Servos and Battery For 79" Yak?
What is a decent choice for servos for this plane? I plan to build light and use a ST2300 for power, so it will not be massively overpowered or shaking badly from gas power. I am looking at the Hitec 59XX or 69XX series, with preference to the 69XX's for the Karbonite gear train. Which ones, on which surfaces? Battery will be a 5 cell NiMH. How much capacity is reasonable? 1400, 1800 or more? I was looking at the new 1800mAh low impedance packs from NoBS Batteries and they look perfect for this. I typically fly maybe 4 or 5, ~12min flights in a day and then I can charge overnight, so that is my benchmark for capacity. Any comments, thoughts?
Thanks,
Mark

RE: Servos and Battery For 79" Yak?
I can tell you what I put in my 80" Edge, which is a similar plane to yours. I installed Hitec servos all around. Dual 5625's on the elevators, dual 6975's on the ailerons, a 5945 on the rudder, and a 5245 on the throttle. Because the 6975's can't run on 6V, I put in one of the new 1800 series KAN 4/5 rx packs from NoBS batteries.
These planes fly relatively slow, so you don't need the extremely fast speed of some servo systems. Hitec doesn't offer the 6975's anymore, so you may want to look for something in that speed/torque only with a 6V capability, that way, you'll have your choice of batteries to install.
If you prefer Futaba, they make many servos in that size/speed range. Your choice.
