Default anyone use the ikarus free wheel kit?

what are the downsides to the freewheel kit? i like the idea of autorotations and not dropping like a rock when i reduce power. does it make your heli slower to react when you apply throttle?

Autorotations are only possible with a CP heli. Is that what you are using? I do have a free-wheeling kit on my FP piccolo, but only because it was recommended as a better way when you go brushless. Sudden stops with the brushless motor can strip gears without the freewheel kit.

Hi, I have the free wheel on my Piccolo. I am just learning to hover and I think the free-wheel has saved me money in crash parts.

When the heli is going down, I kill throttle and the only thing that happens is blades fold up or maybe pop the head off.

But NO broken blades as of yet, or anything major at this point.

Of course, auto-rotations are impossible with a FP heli.

I like it because it disconnects motor and main rotor before crashing.
