Really "Cool Virtual Cockpits"
Guys, just in case you have not seen my pics in the "Great Planes 580 thread", you really need to check out the digital graphic cockpit kits by WrightRC. I just got mine for the new GP 580 1/3 scale Matt Chapman Cap. In a word, AWESOME! Never seen anything like it before. Wright RC will even customize for your aerobatic aircraft and is currently working on a new line for CARDEN Kits! Just email Kregg at: [email protected] for info. Im just so excited about his product, that Im eager to let you guys know its out there! You will notice that you sit a pilots bust on top of the digital graphic, and it truly gives you a beautiful 3D effect. You can get one for $55.00! Here are some pics from my 1/3 scale GP Cap 580:

DiabloKid,
Exactly! Kregg is a magician..and, the 3D, digital cockpit that he prepared for my ExtremeFlight RC, 87" Yak, with a DA-50R, complements the genius of the design of the plane and creates an illusion of a scale cockpit without adding weight. Kregg's cockpit even makes my foam pilot look gooooooood!
I ordered the cockpit kit with the torso and, prevailed upon him to darken the tone of the pilot's hands...I'm an African-American. No problem...His photo-digi-art sense prevailed so on the hands that my wife asked me if I had sent him a photo of my hands to work with.
If anybody out there has an ARF that they want to personalize, Kregg is the way to go...The price for me was $45. E-mail Kregg at [email protected] . See the pictures of the 87" Yak below:

RE: Really "Cool Virtual Cockpits"
Thanks for the great comments guys! For the time being, my cockpit kits all have that pilot wearing that ribbed shirt. I can change the shirt color and even reduce the amount of the ribbing visible, but not completely swap that shirt out for another smooth shirt. I would need to shoot a completely new pilot graphic and do extensive retouching. Perhaps my next cockpit kit with a completely new scale subject will be without the ribs.
Sorry,
Kregg

RE: Really "Cool Virtual Cockpits"
The graphics are all based upon me being able to shoot MANY high resolution digital pix of the required elements. The cockpit kit is build or illustrated from about 30 individual photos. On one of my kits, I shot the many pix of a empty full scale Cap cockpit from many angles. The pilot body, arms & legs are mine. I shot a pic of me in that position from above and illustrated it into the cockpit. If I had a flight suit I could put it on and start over with the pilot graphics. However, I do not have a flight suit. I need a willing model for an hour or so to get the required images.
I would love to do other scale cockpits and they will come in time, as I find full scale aircraft that I can basically get inside of. I think the Air Force museum in Dayton has a F-16 cockpit that you can sit in. I will document it on my next trip there, but I will still need a posed pilot in a flight suit shot form directly above. That can be a tall order. For now I'm focusing on basic cockpit kits for aerobatic aircraft. These all look about the same and I can modify a few photo kits to fit almost any of them. They are also plentiful and nobody has a cockpit represented complete. When we start talking warbirds and such, most scale builders build their own cockpits. Then there is the issue of only selling a couple of kits, since they are not as plentiful. I'm shooting for the broader market for now. Time is hard to come by.
I should have a Virtual Cockpit kit for each of the QQ Yaks by the end of May.
Thanks for everyones interest!

Hey, Kregg. Do you have a website. I'd like to put it in my "Favorites" folder so that I can contact you as needed. You have a terrific item here. I would have liked to have something like it many times in the past. Maybe in the near future. Beautiful work.

My e-mail address and cell phone number are the best communication points for now. I do own the web domain www.wrightrc.com, but it will not be up and running until this summer. I guess you could bookmark it now? Right now I'm busier than a one arm paper hanger and trying to get ready for Joe Nall.
Thx,
Kregg

Kregg,
Its nice to see you visiting the forum! I am so very pleased with your work on the digital cockpit kit for the New GP CAP 580, its awesome! Im a little slow on completion on the Cap, but when I get it fully completed I will take some pics and post them. My hat goes off to you Kregg, I have never seen anything this cool in the 12 to 15 years I have been an Avid RC enthusiast! Great work, and keep it up! Im sure I will be calling you again soon!
Thanks Kregg!

The pics are of my plane which I am trying to get airborne this weekend. I also have a new canopy coming to get rid of all that haze. the current pics do not do it justice. I will have some complete plane pics with the cockpit on the QQ thread in a couple of days hopefully.

Per request, here are a few pix of my 2.6 Comp-Arf 330L. The first images show the simple instrument panel kit and the last images show my complete Virtual Cockpit version.

RE: Really "Cool Virtual Cockpits"
Well I can already see that I'm gonna have to have one of these for my Chip Hyde CapX project that I started last night.
What else would be any better to take your mind off Hurricane Dennis? We were way out on the edges of the bands and still were getting gusts to about 45 mph. So I stayed in the shop and got started.
Kregg, you'll be hearing from me.

RE: Really "Cool Virtual Cockpits"
Thought you would like to see pictures of the finished QS YAK 54! Everyone at the flying site was "WOWed" by the virtual cockpit & overall appearance & performance of this plane (Ozark Flyers, Fayetteville AR). Pilot = "Bob" from litepilots. I just can't stop smiling - this is an awesome aircraft, and the virtual cockpit w. pilot are most excellent indeed.
