A good replacement for my 29% Edge?
Well I did it; I forgot to put the antenna up before I took off. My beloved AW 29% Edge is history and I'm looking for a replacement. Here are the options I have thought about;
1. Another 29% AW Edge ($425 + $300 for covering, paint, graphics) Lots of work
2. CA 27% Extra ($350 + 300 for covering, paint, graphics) A little Work
3. Great planes ARF Extra ($399 + $75 for upgrades) very little work.
Others?
I really want something that will fly as good as the Edge (RIP) but for the money and work involved I'm not sure what way to go.

How about the new Aeroworks 31% Edge ARF? I saw one at the TOC. Looks real nice and seems to be very light according to the specs. Due out in November for $695.

Wings,
Sorry to hear about your Edge's demise. The covering scheme is one of my favorites. What size engine did you have in it? Since you're looking at the same size plane, I'm assuming your engine survived.
I have a BME 50 that I hoping to put in Dave Patrick's Edge.
I was also thinking about the GP Wagstaff Extra 300. You mentioned $75 of upgrades. What did you mean?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have the Brison 3.2 and seven servos, 6 digitals that survived without a scratch, so I'm looking for something about the same size and weight.
ED 42, The upgrades are things like a good pull-pull system, Carbon fiber pushrods, good quality wheels and tail wheel assembly, ball joints, etc. I have never found this kind of stuff in an ARF.

Wings, I've been an AW 29% Edge driver for over two years and would hate to deal with replacing it. A couple of sure things: 1) I can M'cote one (three colors), paint the cowl & pants, and commision some Kirby Graphics for tops $125; 2) you'll be hard pressed to come with any ARF in its size that will be ready to fuel at an honest 14', or an once or two under. So, maybe give the shock and grieving a few more days and reconsider calling AW.

Ther is no better plane in that size range. Either get another one and build it or I would be willing to build it for you, you cover it for $100.

CAPtain 232,
Are you looking for some business or being nice since he lost his plane? I may want one built for me. I don't have a lot of time to build, and I have never worked with foam before. I was considering the 31 % ARf, but I have been having some bad experiences with ARF's lately.

A good replacement for my 29% Edge?
HONESTLY I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE......I like to think that I am a very good builder and I just thought I would help him out. In my opinion, this is the BEST plane of this size and I know I would hate to lose one.
If you, qspilot , want to do the same deal I offered, i may be willing to do that.
I AM NOT IN THIS HOBBY FOR BUSINESS THOUGH. I AM ONLY IN IT FOR FUN!!!!

Wings...sorry to hear about your plane. That's a tough way to go too.
As for replacement, my vote would be to replace with same same. As your already familiar with the plane, and have all hardware. The second build does go faster then the first, for sure. Ask me how I know . I'd say go for another 29% though. Hope it works out. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing too, you might have saved someone else from doing the same thing.
