I'm planning on using a HS 55 as the throttle servo on the sledge to save a few oz's anyone have experince with these servos in non electric applications?

I've been using these guys in speed 400 pylon racers supped up wth brushless motors with no servo failure for awhile now. One on elevator and one on aileron at 100+mph but the control throws are so small the servos have a huge mechanical advantage and theres also very little vibration.

these are perfect for throttle. I know someone that uses pretty much only hs 50 and hs55s on his throttles has no trouble with them.

I have one on my spitfire and it works fine (although I only have 5 flights on it so far)

I use HS 81's for most of my throttle applications.... only cause that's what I had laying around.. I'm sure a 50 or 55 would work well too....

Of course neither will survive a dirt name.... you'll strip the gears... but in normal flight they work great.... Just make sure you don't have any binding in the throttle linkage.

I fly a SIG Wonder with Futaba micro high speed servos on the aileron and elevator and a standard S148 on the throttle. I can see the need for high speed on everything except a throttle or are you doing this for weight saving???

I usually do it for weight. Saves almost a full ounce.

I use a HS-55 on my throttle on my Hot Hots. Haven't had any problems yet.
