I have been doing the electric RC thing since 1989 and decided to get a nitro car.
I want a 1/8 scale buggy and was wondering what RTR cars do you guys reccomend.
Im not gonna race it .
I was considering a Storm RTR or a OFNA of some sort but am open to suggestions.
tell me what you like and why or what you don't like and why.

I would reccomend starting out with a 1/10 scale stadium truck, but if you realy want a buggy, get the Ofna LX pro. It has a big .25 (Normally a .21) , it's 4 wheel drive, it has a good radio, and it has an AWSOME paint job. The RTR comes with a glow starter and fuel bottle, so all you will need are regular tools and some 15% nitro fuel. If you buy it, get it form www.towerhobbies.com because the have it for the cheapest ($300-everyone else was selling it for about $380.). This buggy isn't really set up to be a race vehicle, but it probably wouldn't take long to make it one...

Remember that the .25 engine will NOT be race legal, and if you want to race your going to shell out another 200 for a race engine. If you do want to race, and have a lot of money to spare a mugen or an MP 7.5 kit (without engine/radio) for 500 or there is an RTR 7.5 coming out that isn't a race buggy but is basically a toned down racer so it would just take some hop-ups to be a competitive racer, that is about 500 with radio and engine.

If you just want to bash and don't really ever plan on racing it a Ofna probably is a fine choice.

But if you get one go with towerhobbies as a sotre, I will agree joel on that

Get the storm rtr i just bought one, and with no mods except tires came in 4th in the a main, also comes with great radio!

Which do you think is better,

The Storm RTR or the Kyosho 7.5 Sport RTR?

They are in the same price range (within 50 dollars), I'm looking for something mostly for bashing but also can be competitive with regards to racing?

I own a Storm & in my opinion it's the most bang for the buck.

Likes:

-High quality radio included

-Durable design

-Lots of aluminium parts right out of the box.

-Crap load of fun

-Low Price

Dislikes:

-Tires weren't glued adequately

-Loose screws, no threadlock applied in some areas

-LOUD pipe

If you decide on the Storm make sure you glue the tires before your first run as the factory glue is inadequate. Thread lock the front knuckles to the C-hub & the Serveo saver assembly to the chasis.

Consider buying some extra C-hubs. I broke one on the third day out.

I'm with Kyle on this one too. I'm also looking for an 1/8th buggy, mostly for bashing and maybe a bit of racing.

That Storm is looking appealing, and it definitely comes with a good radio. But I'm torn between the storm and the mp-7.5

If I was to buy a entry level 1/8 buggy it would be the storm GS, hand down, no doubts. Great radio and a excellent chassis too. I cant think of a single other RTR with such a good radio, the Storm is the package deal- chassis AND radio, and could easily be as good as the driver anyday.

i'm running a k2 and love it. way faster than my old ride mp6 int. i agree with todd and kyle the storm rtr is a better pakage than anything i've seen.

I didn't know .25's weren't race legal! I have never been to an official race because there are no tracks out here...

I'm in the process of restoring a kyosho Vanning. Got it from my uncle. Hasn't been run in about 10yrs. I'm getting an engine off ebay hopefully. Just hope i don't break the chain. Those things are impossible to find.
