RE: Which prop?
I have had very good luck with a self modified X472 prop with my g23 motors... I trimmed the ears down and thinned sharpened and balanced it myself.... Great prop to start with IMHO.......

RE: Which prop?
I found out that the motor I'm running is not a g23 but a g260pum could I still run the props suggested or do I need to go bigger? I currently have a prather b280 2 blade on it now. I did order a 6717/3 which I just put on but need to test out.

RE: Which prop?
Is the 260 stiock or modified? if it's stock it will have more low down torque & do better with a bigger prop like the P275, if it's modified it'll rev more & be happier with a smaller prop like the 6717/3. The only way to know for sure is to test test test.

RE: Which prop?
Hey dicko,
I've been running my am avenger with the 6717/3 prop and the engine is now tuned to the prop the fastest so far is 46.8mph and I'm still playing around with tuning the exhaust so I think I should be able to go a little faster. One thing I noticed is when I put the Prather 280 prop back on the boat would stall. It would go about 30 feet then die it almost seems as if the engine was running to lean. Could this be true and does change to the Prather prop make that much of a difference?

RE: Which prop?
It could be either, pull your plug out & have a look at teh colour, if it's a nice tan/chocolate brown it's tuned right, if it's white it's too lean & if it's black it's too rich. BUT if you have run it rich in the past the plug won't go from black to white if it's now too lean, you're best bet is to get a new plug & run it for a bit to see.
The prather 280 is a big prop for a stock zen to push & if idling too low it could stall, but then again you were running a 6717/3 so it shouldn't be too much. You may have to raise your strut a little to compensate.

RE: Which prop?
What temperature do you run your engine at? I measured the cooling head the other day and it was at 147 does this mean I can still lean the engine out some more or should I just go by the color of the plug?
