Zenoah G-38 (Electrical Problem)
(Written to me by a freind of mine ~ which I could not answer - Figured some of you with Zenoah engines could help me out on this discussion)
I was looking over my Zenoah G-38 because the shorting switch was not killing the engine. The switch seemed fine when testing with a VOM. I noticed a small bare wire on the backside of the coil that was broken. The wire goes from the center of the coil to the magnet. I removed the coil and replaced the wire with some 18-gauge wire that I have. I put the coil back on the engine and gapped the flywheel and magnet at .010 per instructions. The engine is now shorted to the block all the time. What does that little wire do and why is the coil shorted to the block? How do I solve the problem?

If you disconnect the new wire and it runs, there is something wrong inside the coil...use that instead of the front for the new grounding connection to kill the engine...
