Default Gearing question...

on nitro cars the pinion (drive gear) is smaller than the spur (driven gear)... now correct me if i'm wrong wouldnt it make sense to reverse the theory?... a large gear driving a smaller gear would produce more top end speed so why arent they made this way?... do the engines not have enough torque?...

i'm going to a machine shop on sunday to undergo my making of my forced induction... should i try and make reversed theory gears while i'm there to try it out or would it be a waste of time?

serious answers please... thanks for your time

Default RE: Gearing question...

A v 8 wouldn't have enough torque to turn the wheels if the gears are reversed, what your trying to do is call overdrive.
