Default Miss. Afterburner Meet

Any news, reports, updates, or pictures available yet ?
Are there any vendors present besides BVM ? How about any new turbines or kits ? Any "Show Specials" ?
Hated to miss, but a change in schedule forced change in plans.

Default Nice Meeting Ya'll!

I just wanted to say that it was nice meeting a bunch of ya'll at MS Afterburner! I look forward to when I can get my F-15 in the air!!

Oh yea, one other thing:

I tried to keep Woket out of trouble...it just didn't work out that way.

Glen,

Afterburner is a low key event. The event has never really promoted vendors, and has historically been a pilot's event. BVM, and RTI attended and both had a good time and I am sure a good event. I know Carlos repaired, and/or upgraded several engines and BVM sold at least 4 Kingcats. (One for each of the MS Gang) Flying was pretty much non stop and not much waiting for the pin if you wanted to fly.

The award winners were:

Best Scale: Kevin Whitlow with his Aermacchi

Best Sport: Dawn Ellzey with her Bobcat

Best of Show: Scott Marr flying all of Joey's airplanes

Pilot's Choice: Mark Wocketman (Nice Spin Mark)

Top Gun: Paul Lott

I had an awesome time once again. Some of the most hospitable people around. Everyone was very freindly and you always feel right at home. Breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! Man, I think i gained 5 lbs. Great food!!! Very laid back atmosphere without a bunch of constraints. You can relax and have a good time. The frequency board was pretty freed up and allowed me to fly alot. The weather was great, the people are great, the food was great, and open flying, what else can you ask for!!!
Thanks guys for giving me a much needed, awesome weekend!!
ps: those are my airplanes, because i crash Joeys, what are friends for.
He'll have a Super B coming soon.
Thanks again,
Scott

Default Mississippi

I had a great time in Mississippi as usual. The weather was good all four days, the flying was non-stop, all the people were great, and there was always something to laugh and joke about.

It was also a learning experience for several in attendance.
I learned that gambling, spot landings, and cranial flatulence don't mix well.
Mike Jensen learned several lessons in gravity. Both how it affects large heavy vehicles when soft ground in underneath, and how it affects smaller wheeled vehicles on an inclined surface.
Woketman learned several lessons too, but I'm not sure anyone really understands yet what they are.

The Texas gang cleaned up on the pilot giveaways and all of the stuff was great! Thanks to BVM, Arts Hobbies, and everyone else who donated prizes!!!!!

Vernon, Dennnis, David and all of the Mississippi gang should be congratulated on another great jet event!!!!

Ditto all of the above!! I burned more fuel than I could have dreamed of. I just got word that the Austin gang cleaned up in shreveport to the tune of $2300.00 on the way home!!, damn, I should have ridden back with those guys!! By the way, Bob Price won the least amount of that money at $100.00. And Dan Massey got the watch! and over a grand in Shreveport. Green with Envy............... Sean

It's a shame there wasn't a "best crash" award, Tim Field would have won that one, hands down, with the complete destuction of his REBEL sport jet. The 2ft diameter crater, and 6ft radius debris field was very impressive.

It was a fun event and I'll be sure to attend again next year.

Default MS Afterburner

Thumbs up for the MS gang....They worked hard to put on a great event. My wife and I had a wonderful time and I can't say enough about their hospitality. It was nice meeting those I didn't know and great seeing the rest of you. I'm glad I was able to help get some of you in the air. This crazy cuban learned real fast how to eat those crawdads!!!

David, Vern & Dennis.....Thanks for having me!!!

Can't wait 'till next year!!!!

Winamac, here I come.....see ya'll at the end of the month.

Scott:

Greg Bingham and I did some serious bug damage on Saturday after you guys left. Had to....you guys ate all the catfish by the time we got there.

Like Greg said, a guy could starve if you don't learn how to shuck and eat them bugs fast.........hee hee.

By the way, your flying is second to none. The way you were nailing the centerline with three different planes, Super B, BC, and F-86's.....thought you were BV or Tommy D. in disguise. Joey of course, is Mr. Smooth on the F-16.

Don't let Speed Machine Matt see a video of those too-hot-to-touch leading edges on your BMT-160KS BobCat. No one likes to see a grown man drool....

You were definitely smokin' em all. Fastest straight and level plane I've seen, since the Green Machine. Andre should be real proud of his product. Also credit to BV for that slick airframe.

Jane was so sorry she missed Little Joey this year, but she was happy to hear he liked her C/C cookies.

See you guys at the next meet somewhere.....

Doug Arnold of Austin with his new L1011. Flew awesome with Tom Dodgen at the controls.

Doug was heard as the plane took off, "oh well, we still have seven wheels left".

This beautiful Stearman (full scale) made a few passes and landed while we were packing up Sunday. I think Vernon owes me a dollar for the spot landing.

Roger Kirchner's proto type of Southwest Airlines new plane. Herb has yet to see it. I'm sure he will like the design.
