I got done with a complete tear down/rebuild of my B4. The normal replacing of worn bearings...3 this time around. Ahhh yes. There is nothing like feeling a completely new ball diff tranny after your first cup of coffee. Noticing some major wear in the CVD axle & hub carrier(s). The parts list is commencing

Charging up some batteries for my post-afternoon yard work track running pleasure.

Boy... I've done a lot and have more in the works... Not all today, but recently. Mind you I don't race, so most of my doings may seem elementary and trivial.

Jato suspension arms and tires onto a Nitro rustler - amazing how much better a Rustler handles this way. Need to find a fix for the driveshafts. - no CVDs available that fit. The plastic drive yokes come loose.

LST2 trans input gear swap (gear flip mod) and bevel gear install/swap (brushless kit's bevel gears). Raises drive ratio by 4 teeth.
- installing modified Picco .28 (new) with Novarossi 41016 header and Dynamite 086HS pipe.

LST2 #2 - install Novarossi Legend 28-8RT engine with 41017 header and 9886 pipe.

Then the boring task of breaking in two new engines. Time to mix some fresh break-in fuel!

I thrashed my Slash, Nexx10SC, and B5 around a track racing today. Racers/competition was tough and I didn't podium in any races. Oh well, I had fun though!

The market for RC car parts is a it slow right now. It comes and goes really. I've just been so busy with work and research for my PhD. I follow the RC industry online but don't get to spend as much time with my vehicles as I'd like to. I do want to get a new 1/5 scale gasser though.

Cool body! What is it?

We've had a number of race days, so I've started doing maintenance on my Hyper TT and Hyper SC. I like that both platforms use the same parts. Makes spares easy. But six differentials and thirty-some bearings to check and service....takes a couple days. But I like wrenching on them. Supposed to get a little rain in a few days, so track conditions should be prime for racing! Sunday, SUNDAY!

Oh my. FREAKin' HUGE 5B awesomeness! I watched some vids with them racing...serious real-estate needed!

Warming up outside. That makes juggling work, family, yard work, fun time difficult. While I'm typing, I'm taking some spare ST trannys apart for picture taking. I haven't touched them in years. Gotta sell them to fuel my other off road RC's parts needs.

Thought about getting a inexpensive touring car to mess with after seeing the Optima price tag . Probably won't happen as I'm that "cheap" guy who puts too low of bids on stuff. The school parking lot, that I drive in and out of daily, has all of the sudden been looking like a great place to do some fast driving. Lots of elevation changes and curves.

Continuing to reassemble my Hyper 7. Fully rebuilt it over the Winter, and it's pretty much done besides the front shocks. They were leaky, and so I'm waiting on a rebuild kit from Tower.

I noticed almost every part for the Hyper 7 is discontinued. In fact, I was lucky to get that rebuild kit which had limited stock as well.

I knew this would happen. Parts are hard to get from some of the suppliers for Hyper 7 but you can still get some parts from Nitrohouse.com or Hobao's direct site. They have a post on the site about that place. http://eshop.hobao-racing.com/home/index/16015.0 They have all the Hyper 7 parts on there now. I knew this would happen with the age of the Hyper 7 so I got two rollers and tons of spare parts put away. You can always get different shocks on it if you want. I put TLR 3.0 buggy shocks on mine. It wasn't cheap and I had to get the stiffest springs they make, actually used the Truggy length rear shafts and heavy springs. The Hyper is way heavier than the TLR. I love it now though. I replaced the engine with an Axial .28RR spec 2 in black as a replacement. I broke it in and haven't run it since but its power packed.

Nice Hyper 7 Matt. Thanks for the info on where to buy the spare parts. If I have any more trouble with the shocks I might just change them.

I'm slowly getting around to putting the last of my el cheapo 60A ESCs, and no-name motors in my SC10 for when the sun decides to shine again.

Also, the SC10 got a FlySky receiver thrown in to be used with my FS-GT3C transmitter; did a range test with half of the Rx's antenna wire bundled up. No problems on this model either with the FlySky radio system. I now keep my Rx antenna wire tucked inside my truck bodies, or shortened enough so that the antenna is not taller than buggy bodies. I got sick, and tired of ripping off the end caps during every run. For some reason I can't stand having an antenna tube without an end cap on it.

Again, I can't stress enough, the importance of going over a RC that was previously used by another owner .

As I was swaping out the 75T spur on the SC10, I noticed the wheel nut's nylon locking ring not fully threaded onto the axles. That just didn't seem right. The Factory Team SC10 did not come originally with 12mm hexes. Somewhere down the line somebody upgraded this SC truck with aluminum locking hexes for the axles...great!

When doing the upgrade, the blue wheel spacers behind the axles pins are not needed anymore, and the new hex adapters engulf the axle pins; butting up to the bearings in the hub carriers. The original owner of this SC10 failed to realized this and I'm sure had issues with wheel nuts staying tight because of not having enough axle threads left for the locknut . Telltale signs...bent axle pins and not using OEM original roll pins . Them axle pins were only halfway inside the hex adapters!

I hope the owner is not a regular on RCU. I don't want to make them sound as if they didn't know what they were doing. Just look at and/or compare manuals when doing upgrades.

I always lose those darn rubber caps off the antenna tube also. I hate that, but I would rather just keep a stock on hand. I have a big bag I bought from ebay. It helps. This past weekend I spent 2 days finishing my Wraith, its all done now. I am working on the body now. I applied the liquimask yesterday to the areas I will be painting darker like the wheel well flares and the bumpers. I will paint those last after the main color. I picked out some nice stickers for the outside, got a dragon sticker that is kind of tribal in aluminum that I can place on the top. Under my GearHead slimline roofrack to protect the plastic on roll over. I want to put those gas cans on the back that RPP sells and I have the light set from Axial to attach. 4 white in front 2 red in back, need to buy the light bucket set for the back ones. But cant attach them to the frame, have to cut holes and hot glue the light buckets onto the back for tail lights because the front lights are attached to the body in the provided molded light buckets. since they hook to the same control unit I have to find a way to attach the rear lights to the body. Anyway. that is what I have been doing lately. I hated the pan hard kit from STRC, seemed like it didn't work properly.

Did some three way slash drag races at a construction site. They were nice enough to leave a nice steam rolled dirt surface with nice curved edges. Very fun but dusty and hot. 92 degrees, i got a sun burn lol. One guy was a noob so we got to watch him obliterate his truck on 3s lol

Did he break it? lol I wish I had a group of guys to run with locally. no one around me seems interested in RC, not in my neighborhood anyway. I got a bad burn on Saturday watching 3 back to back baseball games my son played. He got a blister from his burn so bad. I felt bad for him, I should have used more sunscreen on him. I think I want to get the Axial RR10 bomber kit that just came out. It looks like it has all the necessary upgrades!

Oh yes there were tire foams flying and tire bits, body was only holding on by one pin towards the end so everytime he hit the gas it would hinge open and become a parachute. Couple of whisky throttle cartwheels, some were pretty vilolent (car looked like a pissed off bee in a jar). I love when newbies get their first car lol they break everything no matter how much you warn them.

Ya having a group is nice since it encourages you to get out more. And its fun to have people to bounce ideas off of and wrench on cars with. Unfortunately my group will be short lived as people are moving out of state after the summer. I have been running into some people at some of the bash spots so maybe i can still make new friends.
