It says on the engine that it is both ABC and ABSC...what is it? The break in process is different.

I'll give you an update on how it performs.

The 03's are ABC. Use a small wheel puller to remove the flywheel.

whats a small wheel puller? And for break in I would go immediatetly to running it at low speed and skip the idling process?

Thanks

I don't subscribe to the idle the engine break-in theory. It just doesn't get the engine hot enough. I break mine in by driving the vehicle around at half throttle or less, and running the engine so rich that it barely runs. Do this for about 4-5 tanks, and you'll be ready to start dialing in the power.

yeah thats what I was planning on doing, now I have a new problem though. On the throttle arm where do I screw in the ball joint or whatever its called? The one that came with my engine (the HPI one is too small. Do I need or order another one seperatly or something? Or is there some nut I am supposed to use?

I think im gonna have to go complain to my hobby shop about that one...they were actually looking at the engine since it was the first Fantom 2003 they got in...must have forgotton that or something. Ugh...

If I can't pick it up at the hobby shop I hope that fantom will send me one for free...

My LHS gave me a throttle linkage that worked for it for free. I just started breaking it in, got through about 1 1/2 tanks of fuel. I can really see its potential as just at 1/2 throttle its faster than my .12SS that came with my kit. The engine stalled twice during break in so far, I didn't try to restart it. Is this because its getting too hot? I don't have a temp gauge so ive just been judging how it feels. When I put my hand on it (I put my hand on top of the heatsink, if it starts hurting in a few seconds but not right away that seems right to me. I have the settings very rich so hopefully when its done with break-in it will be as fast as I hope it will be.

Well finally I was able to give it full throttle...wow! Its a bit slow off the start (that may be tuning) but I hit probably 30-35 mph in a 50 foot stretch. But now my clutch is messed up, its engaging at idle, so I will have to do something about that now, I don't wanna take the whole engine off though...but I have no choice

Its in my sig...RS4 3, not really an SS anymore without the SS engine. At least it shows I built the damn thing! I probably won't get full performance for another few tanks, but I can't wait to take it to a parking lot and let 'er rip. I'm off to replace the clutch spring...

I had my RC 10 out today and ran a couple tanks through it. Had to see if my dog bone problem was cured. It is. I'll tell you what, the Fantom was running sweet! Throttle response off idle was instantanious, and she was doing wheelies at will. I still think the Fantom is capable of making this thing hit 50 mph. The power seems never ending.

lol I was ripped off at my LHS 195 dollars! I got a discount of 10 dollars cause I go in there like once a day lol. You can get the one I got on stormerhobbies (FR15 '03 w/ PS) for 150. I'll be able to tune it a little bit more today, now that I have fixed my clutch problem...my nitro racing clutch has been more trouble than its worth sometimes, hopefully the spring won't break again. I have found that the engine is very picky with the low speed needle when starting the engine. I did start up very fast on the first start though, only about 5-6 pulls! Then sometimes I would pull up the starter like 2 inches and the engine would start...working really nice right now!
