I just bought a brand new boxed HPI RS4 3 and the engine needs breaking in. I went to my local model shop and bought some nitro fuel (Fair Fuel). Now on the label it says the mix is as follows....

Nitro - 16%
Castrol Oil - 6%
Synthetic - 9%

Now i have read some posts on this board about fuel and those percentages dont sound good for breaking in an engine. I thought there should be a high content of oil for new engines. Should i use this fuel or is there anyway of increasig the oil content ?

Another question i have is about upgrading the stock pipe on my RS4. I wouldnt mind an RDLogics pipe as these look the business but the rdlogics website only ship to the usa and Canada. Is there anywhere in the Uk i can get one ?

One other thing, i have been offered a 2 speed gearbox for the RS4 and am wondering if this is worth the investment. How faster will the car be with this fitted and is it a hard task to fit ?

Stock with a 2 speed tranny allows the car to go to 40mph. Its about 35 witout it...but it it opens up a new world when it comes to upgrading. Stick in a better engine and you will be hitting 45-50. 55 with a Fantom .15 engine because of the high RPM's. I have an RD logics pipe, I would email them they might special send one to you, they have great customer service. Also your fuel is ok, I would actually suggest 20% nitro but %16 percent is fine if you already got it. The oil content is good too. And for breaking in an engine you don't need any special fuel, just use whatever you will use for the life of the engine.

As for building the 2 speed its not a big deal. Building the whole car isn't very hard either (I built mine ) but the HPI instructions are very good so just follow and it will be fine.
