Noob Question - Gearing
I got some Pro-Line Road Rage II tires for my Stampede. They are substantially smaller than the stock Talons. So to compensate should I use a larger pinion? Or possibly a smaller spur? With the Talons I was geared 24/87 for onroad speed runs. The temps were all good after running a full pack.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

RE: Noob Question - Gearing
According to an online R/C Speed Calculator http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/top_speed.html I would theoretically need to adjust my gearing to 28/81 to get roughly the same speed as my 24/87 gearing with the Talons. Does that sound correct? (ie am I moving in the right direction?) I have a 28 tooth pinion and 81 tooth spur so I'll probably give it a shot and see how she does.
I guess it makes sense that a smaller wheel would accelerate quicker but have lower top end...

one thing to note, sometimes gearing higher doesnt mean higher top end, if you overtax the motor your going to lose RPM since your no longer in the optimum power band. im sure eveyone knows this, i guess i just like to hear myself talk

RE: Noob Question - Gearing
haha you lost me on that one. I have a Castle Sidewinder Sv2 w/4600kv motor in my Stampede. 2.2 Road Rage II tires. Do you have a recommendation as to what would be an optimum gearing for speed runs? Thanks for the reply, I'll be testing different gearings today but another opinion would be nice.
