I recently got a nitro car with a 3 speed gear box in but when I pelt it up and down at this disused airfield I can't hear it change gear I'm only questioning this as I've heard other talk about the 'sound of their car changing gears' etc... Would I know if the gears wasn't changing correctly?

well you should be able to, my friend has a two speed at you can hear a very distinctive change in pitch when it switches over

With a three speed there will be two distict pitch changes.
