Default Spacers for DA50 on Extra

Let me first give props to Tom at WildHare...excellent product & customer service. I had high expectatios from the past forums, you surpassed them all.

Are you guys doubling up the firewall? I am using a DA and I know it is one of the lightest engines, but just wondering if the weight v.s. support is an issue. I am using 1/4" spacers, however, I am running into a snag w/ the 1/4-20 bolts....the 1 inch is to short & the 1 1/2 is too long.

Thanks

Are you bottoming out in the DA stand off's with the 1 1/4" bolts? ...mine didn't. Are you using a a large fender washer and lock washer? add another washer if its close. If you need too, take a 1/4 20 nut and place on the bolt and use a cut off wheel to shorten the bolts. the nut will chase the threads making it easer to install.

The firewall is plenty strong enough as is. However I did use bamboo squeres to pin the firewall on mine. I did the top, bottom and both sides.

There is no need to double up the firewall. I did that on the first one I assembled and only added extra weight. The way it comes is plenty strong enough for just about all the engine installations that I can think of.

I am using a large fender washer and lock washer...I guess I will use the longer one and just cut it off. I obviously want as much thread in the stand off as possible. Thats a good tip, I've done it before just didn't think of it.

Thanks....

Question on mounting a DA-50 on my new Edge 300s. Are you guys using the stand-offs that came with the DA? I ask this only because I had to add .830" shims to get mine to line up correctly and this leaves a nice 1/16" gap behind the spinner. I keep reading that most of you are using 1/4" shims, it would have taken more than three times that on mine.

I used 1/4 inch shims with the supplied stand-offs and it worked perfect.
