Default MVVS 58

Whats the real deal with this engine? Is it the best combo for the 28% Wild Hares or what? It is said to put out 8.5 HP! is that correct? If so, I want one, where can I get one? Also, it sure looks a lot like a DA to me! Anyone?

It's a similar configuration to a DA, rear carb reed valve, but beyond that there is no similarity. It is a beautifully built engine, but there seems to be some problem in getting them into the US. My guess is MVVS is selling all they can build in Europe.

I love mine, but I don't think I'd buy another until I see them on the shelves of the importer with a stock of spare parts.

And 8.5 hp? Probably more like 6.5. It's more powerful than a DA-50, it turns a 24-10 Mezjlik at 6800 rpm at sea level, not bad but not 9hp.

To me it looks similar to the DA mainly because of the head design and compact crank area. I was just going off of what the product guide says (8.5 bhp @6950) I guess it's wrong. I still want one! Do you want to sell yours Tom!

No thanks I use mine for all my testing. Contact David Moen in Canada.

Oh, and the reason they look similar is that great minds think alike. Both engines were designed by somebody who clearly knows what he is doing. The tight crankcase contributes to better breathing and more power.

I sell the DA because of reliability and support, but the MVVS is every bit as good an engine.

Tom;
How do you think the MVVS 58 would do on your extra 260? I believe the plane on there website is a 35% with a tuned pipe. Seemed to fly there plane just fine. Just curious what you think about putting it on your extra 260.

You'd be disappointed, especially in MOntana where you fly at altitude.
