Default Manifold Question

Hello,
Recently I acquired a Picco (P12) .12 side(round) exhaust engine and wanted to use it in my HPI RS4 MT. Now the problem is that i cannot find a manifold for that engine. To be precise, i cannot find a manifold for the engine since it has the ehaust port on its side from which the manifold couples with the pipe which is on the right side as well. I did some research an have found out that this engine is mostly used in NTC3's. Do I have any other options as I really want to use this engine.
Please advice and sorry for my english if i could not explain it better.
Thank you

Your English is perfectly understandable. I'm suprised you've not been able to find a manifold which would work - there must be one out there.

I suggest you start looking at online retailers for manifolds which could work - http://www.towerhobbies.com/ http://www.amainhobbies.com/

Hi,
Thank for the reply. I have checked towerhobbies as well as ebay. The problem is that the round exhaust port engines are mostly rear exhaust. If that was the case with the engine which I have, then you are right there are a lot of them but in my case, its the side exhaust and for that i can not find any because the engine sits on the right side on the vehicle. The ideal engine would be a standard rectangle side exhaust engine but the one I have is round, picco style.
Thank you

What angle does the manifold need to work? 90 degrees and drop down to the right? Is it possible you could modify a different header to fit - as in a 180 degree header.

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply. My internet connection at home is messed up and will take a couple days to get fixed.
I thought about modifying a header. It should be something like the the header used on xxx-nt's with rear exaust engines but turning to the opposite side. Hope you understand what i mean.
What if i buy the header, cut it and then re-weld it. It might work but don't know if it would effect the performance.
What do you think.

If you can manage to modify an existing header and weld it backtogether i see no reason why it wouldn't work. If you keep the welds near the ends of the manifold you should be able to get a grinding bit in there and dremel away any "bumps" inside the manifold keeping it nice and smooth for the exhaust gasses to pass through easily. That is of course if you can find a header that would be suitable...

Good luck. If you can't find a way of modifying a header to fit i think your only choice will be to sell the engine and look for one with a regular port and exhaust configuration.

Rs43EVOman:
This is the more common manifold i was taking about, if only i could find one which which is opposite to this one meaning insted of exiting on the left, should be on the right side if you look at at it from the angle in the picture.

snowbl!nd:
You are right, if everything fails, i would have to sell it. Though, i will try to weld it first. Time to hunt one on ebay. Will let you guys know if it suceeds, but will take some time.

Thank you

I have looked at a similar manifold and it's not what i am looking for. I have the HPI MT Racer and you can see in the picture the placement of the engine and pipe. If it were a rear exhaust engine then there were endless options but since my engine has a side round exhaust, i don't see any options.
