Yeah, isn't that funny! We noticed that too on the first laser cut files. Seems when the cad files where converted to laser files, the text was reversed? Was not that way on the cad files. Sure beats cutting them out by hand though!

If you are using AutoCAD there is a variable that you can change called "MIRRTEXT" that needs to be set to '0' so that when objects are mirrored the text still comes out normal. Of course, you say that it wasn't like that in the CAD file, so you may have to beat the gremlins out of your systems.
