RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
Never ran a sikk but id maybe go zenoah, reason been theyre reliable easy to get parts for and also you can get them modded later if you wish,im not saying sikk motors arent reliable or moddifyable of course they probably are but there arent as many people running modded sikks as zens that i know of?.The sikk is more power out of the box than a stock zen but thats because they moddify it at the factory so really its equivelant to a mild modded zen so if the price is right and you have parts easyly available then it might be well worth consideration especially as they come with mounts.Whichever one you choose im sure you will be happy, just steer clear of the many clones out there .

RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
On a hours of running too failure ratio, 10 being the best and 0 the worst ......... My Zenoahs about a 9.5, The 2 Sikks I own, about a 4
Broken 2 cylinders, blown out LOTS of base gaskets & cranks spit out the red stuffing material at high rpm. ( Yea the Sikks run great, but reliability is terrible IMO )

RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
Are you asking if the zenoah is much slower or vise versa ? ,out of the box the sikk has more hp than a stock zen but then the sikk isnt stock as its been modded at the factory so its kinda hard to compare like for like?.I like my zenoah and as the saying goes if it aint broke dont fix it ,ive thought about a sikk but then someone allways posts a thread about how his sikk is sick and that makes me think again.

Jimmy
I bought a SIKK for my first boat, which I am now finishing.
The price was a deciding factor for me, I take all the comments about them with a grain of salt
You'll never get a cut and dry answer of which is best so as I said I went by the price and I've had good service from the company I bought it from.

RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
Whilst I cannot comment on a Sikk having never owned one, I can however say for me personally, Zenoah's rock. They are extremely reliable, can be modified easily (when you know what you're doing) to perform exceptionally well and parts are easily obtainable.
The only time I had a Zenoah fail on me is from sheer stupidity on my part (going too savage with mods.............in the wrong areas). I'm sure most will concur that a Zenoah is a quality engine which generally only fails from doing something silly (operator error) like running too little oil, too lean, no/loss of cooling or modding it too far without knowing what you are doing etc.
Go with what YOU personally feel comfortable with, that best matches YOUR budget and intended purpose.
How much price difference between a Zen and a Sikk are you talking about, is it a considerable amount??

As far as i know the zen is still the cheapest although on the sikk you do get mounts but a few have said theyre not great?.the stock zen will push the thunderboat to mid to high 50s by all accounts does that make the descision any easier ? .Put it this way if you buy a zen you will never regret it they are rock solid in stock form .

Dreamin, arent you comparing the zen to the fuji now. Could one be misslead to think that you are saying that the zen is that much better than the CY, or is it just me?

Oops, yeah, sorry about that...but yes, it has been much easier than the Fugi, sorry for the off-topic thing, I was just mentioning how easy my Zen is to get started.

RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
It's a classic Chevy vs. Ford thing. The Sikk put out slightly more ponies and RPM over the stock Zen and was a little higher in cost but is now dropping down.
The big battle right now between them was in a NAMBA district with the hot new Thunderboat class. You could tell who the hard-core Zen fans are as they didn't want to go head-to-head against the Sikk's.
A Sikk is ready to be dropped in my new boat hopefully yet today if I can stay offline for a few hours. I got a helluva deal on a Bob Finn modded one, used but still in great shape. Nothing against Zenoah's either as I also have a Ford and Chevy (GMC actually with just the Cheve plastic bent differently) in my driveway.
Next is to watch out for that Korean-made engine, that baby looks wicked, evil, mean and nasty!

RE: zenoah vs sikk motors
hi guys. i also dont know which way. during easter we had our national championships and we had sikk motors and zenoah motors running in the open gass class. not one problem or fault on any motor both makes did perform well but a 45' lazer with a zenoah took the championship. i must decide now because my boat must run by the end of may. i am thinking of the m6 mod zenoah from ware house hobbies. only 4+hp and the sikk from oneillbrothers 5.5hp i dont know i need some help. any one a suggestion?
