Jumping Geo
Anyone remember the Jumping Geo Fun-Fly.
If so, who made the Kit/plans? Is anyone still flying one? Who designed it? Can I still get the plans? I would assume that there are not any more kits left out there. I remember seeing these planes flown back in the late 80s early 90s.
Thank you for any info you may have.
Happy flying, Pat

Somewhere I have plans for this, I'll see if I can't dig them out.
I have the rib patterns for sure. I played around with building a small wing that I'll take a picture of and post.
Can't beleive how rigid this design is once it's glued and locked together.
I keep meaning to build a fuse and tail for the wing I built!

Sorry
Well I dug thru all my plans and I can't seem to locate them. I phoned my pop to see if he has them and he'll get back to me later.
Here is a pic of the wing with a Jumpngeo rib..

Pic of rib
The small rib is the actual chord of the rib and end tips.
the large rib is fully symmetrical, you just cut to ribs and start stacking them in a row. Let me know if you need more details It's been a while but it basically looks like a stick-it type aircraft.

The Jumpin' Geo was published in Model Aviation, the AMA Magazine a mere (are you ready for this?) third of a century ago! Like me, they hoard the good stuff, so you can still buy the full-size plans from them...
JUMPIN? GEO – AMA – Academy of Model Aeronautics
Yeh the request was real old, but just in case somebody's looking for that plane...

I built 4 of them back then. Fantastic flyers, but almost any non-landing gear contact meant a bag of balsa splinters. Gave one to a friend who flew it a lot, then put it into storage when he fell out of the hobby. Two weeks ago he got it out and revived it, but didn't appreciate how much his reflexes had changed in the decades of non-use. But it might be repaired and fly again!
The concept of a geodesic wing structure was fascinating as a way to build in strength yet keep weight down below conventional techniques. I made several runs over the decades at other planes with similar wings, but alas, as with too many of my projects, they never made it to final completion.
