Here's mine:
I've owned this thing for years. It started life as the original MMT (1/18th scale) version with the 8.5 wheelbase. As far as the Pro version goes, it has all the mods mine does except for a gear reduction unit and CVDs
The Goliath is direct drive, meaning it has a center-mounted spur; no transmission. In order to get it truly crawler worthy, you have to add a gear reduction unit. PTI sells one or you can get one from RC4WD or modify an airplane gearbox like I did originally or replace the whole assembly with a multi-gear tranny like the Axial tranny (with a slipper clutch) or the RC4WD R2.
The second bugger is the axles. The gears are plastic. They have to be shimmed carefully to keep them from grenading. And even then, you have to be careful. I reconfigured the center spur with slipper pegs to make my own slipper clutch setup to help save the gears. It worked very well. Rarely stripped a gear. A slipper is almost mandatory. If you use an R2 tranny, which has no slipper, you have to be very careful with your driving and not get your wheels bound up too bad. Once I swapped in an R2, I started going through axle gears again.

There are upgrades available through PTI. Aftermarket support is not very good. With some ingenuity you can get various parts for other vehicles to fit the Goliath. For example, I managed to get TLT alloy knuckles to work on mine; wasn't easy though.

The new Goliath Pro 12 RTR will feature an aluminum transmission. It will also be available as an upgrade for the other Goliaths.
Were doing a review of it on RCU within the next month or so.

If you don't have the gear reduction on there, your best bet is gonna be to get some sort of super high turn motor; something like a 75T lathe motor and bump up the voltage. A 3-cell lipo would be ideal. And get the largest spur you can fit in there which is around 90T and a 12T pinion. For a speed control, get youself a Castle Mamba Max or maybe the Sidewinder. The Novak Rooster Crawler is good too, but it can't handle 3-cell lipo. You could use an 8-cell NiMH pack though.

The dogbones that I use in the rear are these:

Do you have a gear reduction unit? It's pretty much a must have item on the Goliath.

I am running a 10t pinion with a 55t motor. Mine crawls ok, but I am planning on adding the RC4WD GRU unit soon. I was able to crawl just as well as a stock Axial last weekend...followed him everywhere he went. And that is with almost stock suspension, and old Proline Mashers glued on cheapo wheels.
I have some beadlocks and Hammers on order.
