March Pro Bro Fly In - Event & Hotel Info
OK guys, the March 15th & 16th Profile Brotherhood fly in and 3D Fun Fly in Houston, Tx. at Scobee Field is approaching, and I guess some of you need a place to stay.
Here are some options I came up with that are close to the field (within 5-10 minutes), and have reasonable prices. Please call Hotel for reservations, availability and actual prices.
A ) Red Roof Inn located directly on I-10 Tel. 281-579-7200
B) Comfort Inn on Hwy 6 Tel. 281-493-0444
C) Fairfield Inn located directly on I-10 Tel. 281-646-0056
D) Super 8 Motel directly on I-10 Tel. 281-646-7800
I will also include a map to the field.
The field is located inside George Bush Park on Westheimer Parkway. If coming from I-10, exit Highway 6 (make a right if coming from the west, or left if coming from the east) and follow about 3 - 4 miles south until you get to Westheimer (can't miss it, there is a big mall there). Make a right and go to next traffic light. Make a right and follow road through park (2-3 miles). You will come to a traffic light inside the park. The entrance to the field is maybe 300 yards passing the light on the right (you will see the field).
The field opens early, so come on out early ! We have the field reserved for both days all day long.
Landing fee (club donation) will be $25 for both days or $15 for one day, and that includes lunch and sodas for pilots. We will also have a pilots raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold separately at day of fly in.
For those interested, we will arrange a get together on Saturday night for Dinner and Beer (not in landing fee included either ) and Robert from Morris Hobbies is going to give us a little presentation there (with videos maybe) about his current and new products etc. Should be fun and interesting to.
So for all of you guys who haven't made up their minds if they should show up at this fly in, better think twice. We will have a blast and make this a real 3D fest !
Please note that this fly in is for Profile Planes and 3D Fun Fly planes (like UCD, Flip, Pizazz, etc.) only !

I'd love to be there - BUT!
Out of curiousity I checked Mapquest. I thought that I would see if I could get someone to share a ride with me, but, according to Mapquest, its almost 16 hrs (about 1000 miles one way). So that rules that out for me.
Texas 3D - Are you the CD of this event? Someone contacted me awhile back to request a donation in support of this Profile Brotherhood Fly-In. Unfortantely, I don't recall the individual and his email is lost in all of the emails that I get. Let me know if you are the right contact.
Thanks! (Profile Brotherhood Supporter)

Kevin, send you an email ! Thanks for your support !
Why don't you just get on a cheap flight and come on down for the fly in. There will be plenty of birds to fly. You can fly any of mine.

Hey Paul
Are you taking your Aeron down to Huston? Jeff Williams said that he was going to try and take his Ecstasy down with him. I screwed up damaged my Aeron pretty bad this past weekend. Engine sagged (I think there is a hole in one of my fuel lines) while hovering just off of the deck from a hand launch. This one has been on borrowed time anyways. Its over 2 years old! Its gotten pretty heavy over the years from repairs. I've been too busy designing and building prototypes to find the time to build another. I've been dying to start on my new Ecstasy Extreme. I've got the laser cut wing parts in for the proto-type and haven't found the time to start on it. I've been trying to get ready for Perry, GA show. I've got a few ideas that I am thinking about trying on my next Aeron. Once I make up my mind, I'll get started on it. I guess the Ecstasy Extreme is going to have to wait for now.

OK You Houston Guys....
Westheimer runs between two fairly major roads, if I recall. One road up by what I would call the "dam" of the flood control system, and the other is sort of a boulevard. Seems like there was a hotel at the corner of the boulevard and Westhiemer.
Am I even close??
We were coming from Katy on the road I call the boulevard, and we turned left on Westheimer, and this is where I thought I remembered the hotel..

I'll be there.... I'm flying into Houston Intl late Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday at 5pm. Anyone need a ride from/to the airport around that time?
I'll be there to document the smashes... and occasional hovers.
-Juhan
ps: Hand me some sticks and I'll make a stick pile.

Dick Scobee Field, is in George Bush Park. The park is at the corner of Westheimer and Highway 6. only a few miles south Interstate 10.
There are several hotel right near the field. Plus numerous restaurants, a good size shopping mall for the wife and one of our sponsors, Trains and Planes Toys and Hobbies. Within 20 minutes from the field is, one of best malls, The Galleria, a very cool indoor go-kart track, gentlemen clubs, bars, clubs, Krispy Kream, a slot car track and about anything else you could imagine.
At the Pro Bro website http://www.the******************.com/ there is a listing of hotels and a map of the area.
