Avonds & AD F-16C Scale Retracts
I am considering buying an Aviation Design F-16C kit. However, there doesn't seem to be any exact scale main retracts available.
For the kind of money the kit and engine cost, I don't want non-scale looking retracts.
I spoke to Darrell Tenny of
Sierra Giant Scale. He has done all the engineering for the exact scale main gear. If he has enough interest (comittment and deposit) he is prepared to develope and produce the exact scale gear for the AD F-16 (which should also work on the Avonds F-16).
The price is steep. $1200 for the mains. However, this should solve many of the problems everyone is having with the plain oleo struts. General Dynamics spent many millions of dollars engineering the originals. I've got almost a thousand hours in the real F-16 and their engineering was worth every penny.
If I can find nine other pilots who want their F-16s to have the correct main gear, Darrell can have them ready in 2 to 3 months after he receives the comittment.

An F-16 with improper gear just looks wrong. Thank you.

What do you get?
Concerning Prices.
Scale F16 Mains are $1200.00
Nose gear is $350.00
Wheels, Tires, Brakes for Mains and Nose are $400.00
You also get one of the best designed gear on the market.
If we can get the quantity to up around 20 sets , the prices
drop another 10% to 15%
Quantity is everything.

Avonds & AD F-16C Scale Retracts
I have a Avonds in a box ready to start construction. Was hoping to pick up the scale gear from Avonds for 850 (previous quote from them). Not sure when it will be available, however. I'd be interested if the price gets down in that neighborhood. Hate to commit that much money w/o seeing an example of the guys work.

Avonds & AD F-16C Scale Retracts
Hi everyone Matrix Machine Tool already done a scale f16 gear with landing lights and it's available now for their 1/6 scale and a very affortable price. 1/7 scale is also has been developed. Check out his post here to see some pictures of the gear and will be amazed. This gear are jewel.
