hi all im new to the rc world and have got my self two new cars .the first one is a tamiys vr6 mk3 golf that i have wanted for 10 years ,the second is a hsp xstr brushed model .

my question is about the xstr ,how long should i charge the battery for and how long should i get out of it (running time )??

think im haven a problem with my car ,i charged the battery for 8 - 10 hours the first nite and ran it the next day till it was dead so charged it again for 2 hours and ran it this morning but only got 10 minutes out of it , is this right or have i fecked it up

What charger are you using?
If you are using a charger that was supplied with the car then you will need to charge overnight every time you run down the battery.

well depends on the mAh the battery is rated, the chemistry of the battery, the ESC/motor, and where you are running it.

Problem is your Charger and Batteries.
-Capacity of you NiMH batt is lower than the power of motor.I dont know your motor power!.So 10 minutes running time is right.
-Your charger is the common charger. This chargher can not be adjust the circuit and voltage. I think the charger has output 0.5A~ 500mah.Give you the simple formula :   1800/500 =3.5hours.
If you want to play with more running time you should change to lipo battery with 4000-5000 mah capacity. And you should have the special charger for this. Imax B6 ;Cellpro 4s ,Orion charger....
Best regard.
