Default Any Tamiya TGS owner out there?

I'm a beginer a this world. I've bought a Tamiya TGS XBg car and I have some questions:

Has anybody bought the TGS High Speed Gear Set??
How much is it?
Is it worth buying?
Does it increase really the top speed?
Does it loose too much acceleration?
Which Hop-ups do you recommend me to buy??
Has anybody heard about 2 gear set plans??
How competitive is this car compared to LD3 or Kyosho V-One S, SII,R...?
What can I do to improve the car in order to make it more competitive?

and finally...
Which O.S. model is the motor?? I know it is a FS-12ss, but at O.S. homepage, it doesn't exist. Which model is it??

Thank you very much !!!

I'm pretty sure its jus an OS design given to tamiya to make. Now I'll be the first to tell you, I'm an avid Tamiya fan, but the XBG jus, well, disapoints me. From what I've read, its very slow for a touring car... under 25 mph.... thats pitiful.... HPI's are even faster than that... anyways, First upgrade no matter what that you should get is a new engine, NO DOUBT, then a new tuned pipe/header combo. You will notice a GREAT increase in power, even if its jus a RTR Engine from an Ofna LD3 or such. Look for a fantom .15, HPI header, and a cheaper tuned pipe to get you moving faster.

Hi caseyddr!!

I know TGS is not really fast. A friend of mine as a Thunder Tiger SSR(2 speed gear set) and we have done some benchmarks.
TGS (single gear, 2.11cc engine) vs SSR (2 sped gear set, 2.5 engine)

results:
TGS accelerates much more faster but finally when SSR change to the second gear, it flights and beats me.

Tamiya has released a new High Speed Gear Set that changes the gear ratio from 10,40 to 8,67 (they say it increases the speed 20%)

I think that it's not a solution, the solution would be a 2 speed gear set, but TGS is a quite new car and they are launching every month new "hop-ups" for this car. I don't know if they are going to develope a 2 speed gear set :-(

A part from that, in Spain if you want to race, engines are limited to 2.11 cc at 1/10 Touring Class, so It's not worth buying a 2.5cc engine. I'll have to think about buying a more powerfull 2.11cc engine. But in that case, perhaps it's better to buy a more competitive car like a LD3, and forget about improving ths car. I don't know []

Thanks a lot

Hi all

just wondering if anyone has an exploded parts view of a TGS chassis...a mate has purchased a second hand car and didnt receive the parts book with the car.

There are parts listings you can get from Tamiya which I have but was hoping for an exploded view
