Question concerning pilot figures and IMAC rules.........
I understand you must have a dash panel and a pilot figure to compete in IMAC.
I have a dash that weighs maybe 1/2 oz that a buddy gave me.
I'm thinking about using 2 pictures of myself (profile) from both left and right sides and gluing them together. Should weigh less than 1 oz.
My question is does the pilot figure have to be 3 dimentional, or would this concept work within the current rules?

RE: Question concerning pilot figures and IMAC rules.........
You don't actually "need" a pilot and panel to compete. You may, or may not, get a deduction of 1% off your score for not having one of them (you need both for no penalty). Some contests do not enforce this rule is why you may or may not get penalized. Check with the CD of the event that you are considering.
My advice is to just go fly and let this sort itself out later as you get more experience.

I really don't care for this rule. JMO.
Noone thinks these are real planes up there flying. Noone believes that there is a little guy/gal in that plane at the controls.
These are just expensive toys for overgrown kids with ttoo much $$$ lying around. Me thinks someone is taking these things a tad bit too seriously.................
I'll take the 1% deduct- and they do enforce it here.[:-] Notice Kermits "Hans" device-- just incase he's involved in a hard front end collision.
I thumb my nose at the rules:
They're just toys- relax

The "Hans" device is a kind of seatbelt for your neck. NASCAR drivers use them to avoid snapping their necks in a hard front-end collision.
Kermmies' "Hans" device is a simple string and suction cup that I CA'd to the back of the cockpit to keep it from falling down when the sun beats down on the canopy. This was originally a toy that was supposed to be stuck onm a window or mirror- thats where the suction cup came from. I just cut his legs off and glued him to the seat. The string--"Hans" device didn't strike me untill a few days after finall assembly. I think it's funny as all get out.
The "purists" around here snub me- but thats okay. I'm having fun with it- and they can't take that from me.
I try not to scare Kermmie, but he insists on holding his hand in front of his eyes. Scardy cat!!!. And stop puking on the instrument panel, Kermmie!!!

RCPilet,
You're absolutely right, these things are nothing but toys. And furthermore, IMO, the whole IMAC thing is just a daycare center for overgrown rich kids. At least I figured out the little pilot figure wasn't really the one flying! And the "purists" can snub me all they want; as far as I'm concerned, they can penalize me 100% for not showing up.
Now, has anyone figured out how to get the LHS to accept Monopoly money for our "toy" planes?
Tom (who LOVES watching good flying)

This is how I look at it.
If you loose a position due to the 1% rule then you are already more competitive than most.
