My mom's Malibu doesn't even do that. I think it's more like lbs/in because that's what most drills are measured with.

Drills are rated in inch/pounds, not ft/lbs.
To the OP, what do you mean "little" batteries? Many of the 18v lithium batteries use the A123 batteries. In fact many people buy drill packs off of e-bay and disassemble them to make RC packs. I believe the ones that use ni-mh batteries use a sub C cell just like rc battery packs. So there's really no "little" batteries in a drill pack.
