Hyper 7 - Newbie Question
Hi,
I've just bought a new Ho Bao Hyper 7 and cannot get it to start at
all. I've followed all the advice in the manual, primed the engine with
numerous pulls on the starter, checked the glowplug, tried starting by
hand and with a starter box, the car never fires. I've followed the
procedure in case the engine is flooded and tried everything a number
of times.
I'm at my wits end and am about ready to throw this through the window,
can anyone give me any advice on what I should check for to get this to
start ?
Thanks
Neil

RE: Hyper 7 - Newbie Question
It was a pain to start my ofna for the first time too, what I did was prime it a little more than recommended, like 3 pulls after you see the fuel in the line touch the carb, then I put a few drops of fuel through the glow plug hole, and it started after some more pulling.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I have unscrewed the glow plug 1.5 turns and given it a few pulls, fuel then comes up through the space. Tried starting then but still no luck.

It might help to pre-heat the engine with a hairdryer or heatgun before trying to start it. Nitro engines usually are a bit more willing to start if theres a bit of heat in them.

If fuel already comes through the hole, maybe you need to adjust your throttle trim on the radio.
Also, is it cold where you live? It's much harder starting it in the winter if it's cold.

if the engine is stiff as hell then put some after run oil or WD40 and give it a quick pull to lubricate it..... also check ur glow plug if it glows, or try covering the pipe and pull the starter it to get it primed faster, if it still doesnt work try calling customor service or somtin.....

RE: Hyper 7 - Newbie Question
That happened to me,first take the glow plug out, and continuesly pull the pull start, and if fuel is spitting out through the glow plug hole, its flooded,or something, thats what happened to me.So keep pulling the pull start un til it hardly spits anymore fuel out. Also if your engine starts for 2 seconds then stalls adjust the throttle trim,so the hole in the carb is 2mm bigger no more.

RE: Hyper 7 - Newbie Question
Thanks to all that have replied to this post, I've got it running !!!!!!
I primed the engine again by forcing the fuel through the feeder pipe to the Carb, ensured there were no air bubbles. I put a small amount of fuel directly into the hole for the Glow Plug, fitted the Glow Plug but undid with one full turn. I had warmed the engine with a hairdryer as it is quite cold here, tried it and got my first 'bite' ! Had to adjust the Carb as the factory settings were wrong, tried again and it started on the first pull.
I can't thank you all enough !

RE: Hyper 7 - Newbie Question
Runs well at the moment, even though I've only just finished running it in. Just starting to tune it smooth out the low end. Am hoping that once it's tuned properly then the tank won't drain as quickly !! Otherwise it needs a bigger one !
