Tire gluing issue
I've been working on RC cars/trucks for well over 20 years, but I pulled a newbie mistake the other day. I got in too big of a hurry and glued one of the tires on the wheel backwards. I need to know the best way of getting the glued tire off the wheel so that it can be reversed. I know I need to soak it in something (or at least that's what I recall hearing a long time ago), but I can't remember what works best.
Any suggestions?

RE: Tire gluing issue
Boil it - for like 15 minutes or so - be careful the foams will have very hot water in them
Bake it - heat the oven to 450 degrees put the tire in and turn off the oven
Use acetone or CA remover - will probably ruin the finish on the wheel
Honestly though, I've never had a lot of luck with any method.

RE: Tire gluing issue
i havent tried the acetone method yet, but i have tried the bake and boil method . i'd say the bake method works best because the tires simply seperate off the rim as the boil method ive always had to pry them off with my hands while getiing burnt by the hott water!
both ways smell up the house, so if its not a good tire on the rim i just toss them or donate them to a few basher friends i know! im rough on rims anyhow so i just buy new ones!
i sometimes buy them in 24 packs through bmain hobbies

RE: Tire gluing issue
That's the problem...they are brand new tires on my favorite wheels. I thought about tossing the one messed up wheel/tire combo and getting a new one, but so far I haven't had any luck finding the wheel. It's a black HPI 10-hole wheel.
