Default Newbie - BlackJack 55 Issues

Hey All -

I just entered into the world of Gas boating and got the BJ55. Personally, I think it's a great model for an entry into the world of gas/scale boats (I have a nitro Shockwave 55 w/mods - LOVE IT). Regardless, I can't seem to get the engine to idle smooth no matter what. What i find odd is that I have the choke full closed to get it started, and when I open it up once the boat starts to humm - it kills. I have to keep the choke "on" in order to keep the boat running - what the heck am I doing wrong?!

Any help - or direction where to post this would be great help everyone. Thanks....

apw,

need a bit more info, what I don't understand is you say you have to keep the choke "on", but there is no choke on a nitro engine.

you will definitely get a lot more help in the nitro forum, have a look there is a thread on the SW36.

i think they come with a stock 644 carb on. so set the carb up
High = 1 1/2 turns
Low = 1 1/2 turns
so screw the needles in but not tight then wind them out

Thanks Gents - I'll have to give it a try, resetting the needles, this coming weekend. Also, is there an easier way to get the darn thing started other then with the pull-start? It takes quite a few pulls to get that thing to turn over - though I am getting a good workout on the arm.....
