High Performance Coreless Micro DC 5-2.4 tail motor
I saw this at helihobby and they say it can be used for up to 1000 hours! Sell for $34 though (quite expensive).
Looks like a good upgrade for my tail motor.
Anyone has a feedback on it?

I might order it if i get a bit some money together then buy a lot of upgrades at the same time,
it will probably cost me £20 to ship a 10gram motor over to england

Keep in mind that this motor pretty much requires a high frequency controller.
Are they selling this as a direct replacement for a stock tail motor? I thought that these coreless motors were very high RMP, low torque motors. If so, they would require different gearing that a stock tail motor.
Of course, I could be wrong.

I'm sure a high frequency controller is required for it. Helihobby also recommended for one.
I don't know about the performance.

RE: High Performance Coreless Micro DC 5-2.4 tail motor
Found some additional info from runryder forum that might interest you all:
I have about 2 flights on it. One word, wow. There is plenty of power available. It has a very fast response time to the gyro and turning right, it is very quick. It is just as fast to the right as it is going left. The best thing, I don't have to fight the tail as the battery depletes. So far I am very happy with this little gem.
It is pretty much a bolt on replacement, you have to use slightly larger screws than the stock. The motor comes with screws, but you will have to shorten them.
I am not sure how it will perform with the hummingboard. Helihobby recomends a high freq esc. I am running a hf-100 for the tail.
And my last question is for anyone in general. Would this motor be a good candidate for a direct drive prop? What determines if a motor can take a direct drive prop and work well?
I am using a 8 tooth pinion, I am not sure what the shaft diameter is, helihobby could help you with the correct shaft size. I had to use a dab of locktite to attach the pinion to the shaft. It seems to work pretty good. As for the direct drive, I don't have any exp with it. I do know for direct drive to work, the motor will have to provide eough torque to handle the propeller load. The coreless has more torque ( the quicker response) but i wouldn't know how it will perform in a direct drive enviorment.

This give you a feel of how long it might last:
I picked up the coreless from heli hobby. it is a little exspensive though; around 35 bucks. I have been flying with the same motor for about 7 months now. It runs cool (the heat sink is for balance) and has plenty of power. I like it.
