i have the radioshack f-350 mattracs truck that ive started to turn into a crawler. so far i have locked both diffs which helped a lot. that thing is pretty capable i was surprised. soon its gonna have a 4 link suspension. ill post picks soon.

no all stock except for the lockers, and i cut the bumpers (usuall stuff)

i wanna see it too, you do know that radio shack car arent hobby grade and IMO they are kinda pieces o ****, i still wanna see it though, hell if you can turn it into a good runner, aswesome

thats not bad lookin, what kinda power and torque does it have, i didnt know you could put different parts on radio shack cars, how are you gonna put a hobby grade radio in it, the speed control and everything for those are all hardwired.

with the tmaxx tires its better offroad but has no power. i just took out all of the rs stuff adn put in mine

The RS F-350 is the latest incarnation of a RS chassis that's been around for years. In 2003 it had a Hummer body, in 2002 a Chevy Avalanche, in 2001 a PT Cruiser, and in 2000 a generic pickup body.

The performance of these trucks will surprise many - the gearing of the 540 motor is spot-on, lots of low-end torque for 45 deg. climbs and yet decent 12 mph (or so) top speed. While ground clearance is an issue, the fact that the 7.2V battery is mounted low keeps the tires on the ground when many other hobby R/C's are flipping over.

I upraded a 2002 Avalanche with a Traxxas steering servo and DTX Esc after the stock steering servo stripped. The steering servo bay will accept a standard servo, and the rest of the conversion was easy. Also fitted some oil-filled coil-overs and a CJ body from another RS truck.

I'd have to rate this one as a "who has the last laugh" kind of R/C experience.

The Monster Patrol monster truck has a lot of potential as well. It has fully independent suspension, and I can see how it would be possible to adapt longer arms and dogbones to it, along with longer shocks for impressive travel. I am thinking about buying one to play with when I don't want to run the N-Evader. I'd like to make a nice little Radio Shack project. I can see how it would be possible to adapt a better motor in there as well, since they run 540's.

Ya know I actually had the monster patrol radio shack truck ad it was a surprisingly good crawler!! The battery is mounted up high but didnt seem to flip any more often.
It was great and I thought Id make it better w/ a real motor , radio and ESC but it wasent. It was ALOT faster but lost all of its torque (I did use a phantom 13 turn triple thow!) If you gun it on the street and turn it wants to flip but the sloppy steering automatically corrects it and makes it impossible to flip , you can drive in circles on the side two wheels without flipping or touching down for as long as you want! Really fun truck thow , does wheelies and crawls stock
