2.2 Nissan Titan Project
This is my 1st 2.2 build that was'nt purchased as a kit form. I'm trying to use as many parts that I already had as possible to keep the cost down and to keep creativity up. I started with a old Traxxas Bandit I had that has'nt been used in a while, so I took a bunch of parts off it to use for my new project.
I started with the tranny, trimmed it down and locked it.
Next I ordered a TCS X-Trail chassis, did some measuring on my AX10 to figure out what Traxxas links I could use for my project. I also picked up a STRC Delrin skid plate/tranny mount and STRC 4-link plates. I also picked up a set of AX10 RTR axles from Ebay.
I used the rear shocks from the Bandit and I picked up a second set on Ebay. I had to make some mounts to set the tranny on it's side because it would'nt fit right between the chassis rails and the inboard lower links.
I also ended up making a bracket to mount the Traxxas ESC to the side of the tranny and I used double sided tape to mount the receiver to the other side. I'm using the entire TQ radio from the Bandit, except for the servo. For that I picked up a Hitec 645MG. I used Stampede driveshafts with Axial metal yokes at the drive axle ends, they are a little on the short side and I think they will wear out quickly because of that, so I'm looking for some AX10 replacement ones that might be a little longer.
For the test run I used my Maxamps 2000mah mini Lipo from my AX10 (and the wheels / tires) , everything went pretty smooth on the run, just a little glitching so I added a Novak glitch buster I had and the problem went away. The only other small issue was the steering linkage that came on the Axial RTR axle. I was about a strong as a limp noodle, it flex alot when running the truck causing the front wheels to toe in or out. I took my stock CR-01 steering rods, shortened the long rod about 1/4" and rethreaded it and installed them on the front axle. It's nice and tight now.
Now I'm just waiting on the wheels I ordered so I can put the 2.2 Mudslingers on and I'm also waiting for the Nissan Titan body to come in from Tower.

Can those driveshafts pull apart when articulating?
And CT is crap at the moment 33 degrees and slush/rain[]

No the driveshafts can't come apart, they actually slide into each other when articulating, so I think they will be OK for a little while. I might try to put some lighter springs on the shocks too, so the suspension will droop a little. They are a little stiff right now. I have to get the body on there, battery the correct wheels / tires and test out everything really good.
Sorry to hear about the crappy weather up there.....

RE: 2.2 Nissan Titan Project
I finally got some wheels in the mail today!
I ordered a set of Pro-Line eight shooters and a set of RPM revolver (wide wheel base) wheels. I ended up haveing to use the RPM wheels because my tires were hitting the front shocks with the steering turned all the way to one side and the suspension at full articulation.
I love these Mudslingers, they look awesome!
Glued up and ready to go......now if my Titan body would just get here.[&:]

Awesome!
The driveshafts do look like they are at the limit though.
BTW, are you back in FLA yet?

RE: 2.2 Nissan Titan Project
Couple small updates on the build....
I took my Maxamps 6000mah saddle pack out of my B44 and set it up on this truck. It's a little more weight than I wanted on the rear of the truck so I added some stick on lead weights inside the front wheels. I went with the 6000 mah pack instead of my mini pack because this truck is more of a trail rig than a rock crawler so I wanted some longer run times.
The test run with the bigger battery pack and the weights in the wheels went great, the only thing I changed was the pinion, I went down to a Axial 14t. I also took a small spacer out of the upper shock mounts and put some fuel tubing in the upper mounts to get the shocks alittle tighter to the frame rails for more tire / shock clearence .
Got bored and threw my Betty body on there just to see how it looked.
My Titan body should be here Tuesday, can't wait to get started on that and get it mounted on this truck!

Those partma bodies are nice. I got one to paint like my 1:1 also but messed it up because I got lazy and used automotive paint on it. The paint cracked and pulled apart while it dried....I couldnt save it
I have a silver 08 SE crew cab.

RE: 2.2 Nissan Titan Project
The body came in and I finally had some time to work on it......
The Parma body has nice scale to it and it is very well made. The only downside was the window masks that it came with, they did'nt fit the windows to well. The Nissan decals were'nt so great either, but I did what I could with them.
I'm goin to post some action shots once I finally take this out for a good run. Can't wait to get it dirty! [8D]

RE: 2.2 Nissan Titan Project
Thanks man! We ran this truck today, it was a blast to drive! Did some dirt hill climbs and some trail running. I want to try and get a little more weight on over the front axle, but all in all the truck went great!
