Default LOOKING FOR AIR LEAKS IN GLO ENGINES

HI always be looking for air leaks into glo engines- the first signs are that the RPMS wil be suddenly increaseing and the engine running in a different manor than it did before at the usual needle valve setting(often going richer on the top end nv will not get the engine any richer or the engine does not want to shut off as usual at an idle ) it is always acompanyied by an increase in the engines running temperature(running very much hotter ) to sum it up the engine is running leanthis s/b identified ASAP-as it will cause engine damage (reduce your oil lubrication )and the lean running will have you dead stick -which is always a danger to your airframe and investment and somewhat of a safety problemas in most cases you have to identify the engine out condition and think real quick were you plan on landing the engine out airplane
air into an engine can be cause by a loose cylinder head-loose carbor if you see air bubbles in the fuel linea small hole in the linea bad fuel stopper on a fuel tank hole in the tank-a bad needle valve ' O' ring that needs replacing- ETCall the above make it necessary to trouble shoot you air leak problem before you take to the sky once againthis might be one of the best tips i can give to anyone who is new to handling glo engines ENJOY REGARDS TONY

Tony: You made a mistake in your info. If there's an air leak engine will never go rich it will go lean and will not richen.

I think what he meant to say:

HI. Always be looking for air leaks into glo engines. The first signs are that the RPMS wil be suddenly increaseing, and the engine running in a different manor than it did before at the usual needle valve setting(often going richer on the top end nv will not get the engine any richer or the engine does not want to shut off as usual at an idle ) It is always acompanyied by an increase in the engines running temperature(running very much hotter )

To sum it up the engine is running lean This s/b identified ASAP-as it will cause engine damage (reduce your oil lubrication )and the lean running will have you dead stick -which is always a danger to your airframe and investment and somewhat of a safety problem as in most cases you have to identify the engine out condition and think real quick where you plan on landing the engine out airplane.

Air into an engine can be caused by a loose cylinder head, loose carbor If you see air bubbles in the fuel line: a small hole in the line; a bad fuel stopper on a fuel tank; hole in the tank; a bad needle valve ' O' ring that needs replacing- etc. All the above make it necessary to trouble shoot you air leak problem before you take to the sky. Once again this might be one of the best tips i can give to anyone who is new to handling glo engines. ENJOY REGARDS TONY
