Default Jet pilots in Malta??

I will be going to Malta several times this year for work - are there any jet pilots or a jet club down there?
I would really like to visit you and take a look at what you are doing on this beautiful island! [8D]

Default RE: Jet pilots in Malta??

Hey Tor,
I have been and flown jets in Malta a few times now. Plenty of jet action and plenty of pilots operating from two sites. My Big A-10 actually ended up living there.
I am sure some of the locals will be along soon to give you all the info, if not then let me know and I will give you a few good contacts for over there.
If you plan to take a model to fly just make sure its short field suitable as both flying fields that I have flown from are a little tight on approach and a hot ship would be a struggle I think.
Regards Al

Great, guys - thank you! We will be flying one or 2 charter planes (Airbus 320 or Boeing 737) down,
so I can probably bring a plane!![8D] I was thinking of the Savex L-39 just to keep things
uncomplicated, should be perfect!

Oh yeah, you'll be drowning in Ouzo at Pampa and then I'll light you up, so we'll see who is the real fireball!!!!

Tor, try Reuben Saliba (F86-Sabre on RCU). Fantastic guy and one helluva good builder. He's the only person you need to know, who will put you through the right channels.

Yes, and please say Reuben hi from me too !
Their club field is in Hal-Far.
Yes, plenty of jet pilots there...

Go and visit the islands Gozo and Comino for sure (with the famous Blue Lagoon).
I will be in Malta with Marie-Ann in May (14-19), bring your wife too !!

Nicolas.

Hi Tor,

Yeah we do have a couple of jet pilots in Malta and one on Gozo.
We also have a lot of wind too! Ask Ali! HaHaHa.
As Ali mentioned previously his A-10 is now in Malta, I managed to get one flight in this week, I waited for 2 months for the right conditions and it was still blowing at 18knots.

Anyways we basically have 2 clubs on the island, websites below:-

The Ta Qali club - http://www.mmafa.eu/Default.aspx

The Hal Far club - http://www.halfarmodelflying.com/

I have attached a photo of my new toy, with the back drop of Mdina.
Just drop me an email when you'll next be on the island.

Brian.

BTW Ali the A-10 is doing great. Thank you.

Sounds great, Reuben and Brian! I probably should bring my new F-16, I flew the old one in any
wind conditions, but not very happy about short fields with that one! The Savex will fly like
a leaf in the wind in 18 knots, but we'll see! Looking forward to seeing you guys - most of the
trips will be in August/September (So Nicolas, I will not be there in May [] How is your F-16
coming along??)

Hi Tor,

Just a little teaser of the great weather here in Malta.
We got a couple of good jet flights in this weekend.

A photo of my A-10 on finals and Martin's Boomerang.
I look forward to meeting you and seeing your F-16.

Ciao,
Brian.

Hi guys!
Yesterday, we rented a Sunseeker Superhawk 43, it's actually one of the 4 similar boats that was used in the James Bond movie
"Quantum of Solace!!" We took it up to Comino and Gozo, had a great lunch at a very nice beach restaurant and did some snorkeling
at Paradise bay - the we cruised along in heavy swells at 40 knots, I was at the helm, great fun!! I love Malta!

Are there any decent hobby shops here?

Thanks,
Tor

Hi Tor,

Looking good at the helm of that Sunseeker, pity we did not have much sun yesterday! HaHaHa.
Re. decent hobby shops, well there are 4 model shops that I know of on the island, they stock the basic stuff for beginners, no fancy jet stuff.

I do all my jet shopping by mail order, its the only way!

We were happy that we didn't get sunburned yesterday, with our white Norwegian bodies, so we still had a fantastic day! Hope to see you next year at Jetpower!

Probably Brian bought this boat to transport his newly acquired Tomahawk L39
