Default 14x6 vs 14x8 prop

Hi guys,
I've been flying my H9 P51 60 with an OS 91 Surpass spinning a MAS 14x6 prop. I also have a MAS 14x8 i'm wanting to try. Will I gain more top end/speed? What difference will there be?Would a MAS 12x8 be to small?

Thanks

You should get more speed with the 14-8. the 12-8 will be a bit to small. You can also get a 14-7 that will run great on that engine.

Thanks.
I'll try it out tomorrow. The plane flys great but i'd like to have a little bit more speed. I love how easy it is to take off and floats in on landings, I don't want to lose that.

I found this Prop chart and noticed it says a 12x8 is within range so I thought I could get some occasionalspeed flightswith it. Is this correct?

The bottom line is to experiment with a few different props in various diameters & pitches and from different manufacturers then decide what you like best.

A 14x8 APC works well with that engine as does a Graupner 14x7 or 13.5x8. I'd also give a 13x8 a try just for the heck of it. You might even try a 15x6.<br type="_moz" />

I use the MA Schimitar 14x8. Mine like that one just fine.

Thanks guys,
I know I need to decide on my own which props I like best but just wanted to make sure i'm headed in the right direction as i'm still learning about props.

My favorite prop for my OS 91 Surpass is the Graupner 13.5 x 8. I would encourage you to try several of the ones listed in the thread as they are in the ball park. Then pick your favorite.

My favorite prop for most of my planes using .91 Surpass engines is the 14x6. If you would like a little more speed, go to a 13x8. There's always a little trial and error when setting up a new plane as the airframes/drag differ so much.

I and one of my flying mates changed from APC 13x8 to an APC 12x10 for performance on our OS .91FS engines installed in the WM TUCANO .60 for some speed and vertical performance. The 12x10 is within the motor's specs and works great. [8D]
