Getting tires off of rims
Whats the easiest way to get tires off rims. I dont care if it mess up the finish they are black rims and I can just repaint them. Is there a chemical or something you fellow members use.

RE: Getting tires off of rims
I've tried acetone. Too slow.
Boiling works OK, but still not easy.
Here's what happened to me with a 1/10th on-road rim (larger off road rims, such as buggy and MT rims, are more tolerant of heat....different plastic):
Assuming it's the rims you want to save, I just cut the tires off, mount the rim on a lathe and use a flat-bladed screwdriver held against the tool rest to remove the left-over rubber as the rim spins.
Here's my home-made rim mount for doing that (you can use a drill-press if you don't have a lathe. Neither?....then hot water or a bowl of acetone):
Here's two rims I did. I got lazy with the one on the left:

if you are sure you want tires off, and have new foam inserts, ive found that splitting the tire in half and working from the inside out with a razor works well.
most the time i just replace the wheel and tire.
