Get a four channel stick radio and you can simply use one channel for brake and one for throttle.

It realy depends if you want variable brake control.
Basically any 3 ch radio can utilize the third channel as a brake. But it will simply be on/off and not variable.
That problem will persist with a stick radio as you must use one stick for steering and one for throttle. I suspose that you could use the the x axis of one stick for throttle and the y axis for brake but that would take some getting used to in order to drive it.
Why do you want to be able to brake and throttle at the same time anyway?

dave i am taking a nitro jato and converting it to electric i need one servo for brake and on for steering  the esc is going on channel 2 this leaves no channel for brakes

Your esc does both throttle and brake. You don't need a seperate channel for brake.

It isn't hard to get used to. It's no different than playing racing games on a console, and you can train your thumbs for it that way.
Actually it's best when converting a nitro to retain it's brakes most of the time. Most of the time they have a one-way on the spur, and even when they don't, they're very unstable using the speed controller to brake.


What OP can do is use a Y-splitter and the existing radio. Steering remains unchanged. As for the throttle/brake hookup, one end of the Y goes to the speed controller, the other to the brake servo. He would set the brake servo's linkage to brake only when he needs, and disable reverse on the speed controller. He'd be in the black.

Haha, I've been in this hobby for long enough to learn a thing or two. I was just getting into it when the first brushless conversion kits started cropping up five or six years ago, and that was a pretty common way to get them to stop again.

Still, I wish I knew more about batteries. Lipos, to be exact. I want to get some novelty electrics but I haven't a clue about how to properly feed them.

i found a guy on ebay that sells good lipos hard cased and soft case cheap american made and he has a web site www.lightingpower.com pretty good batterys for the money i have 2 and no problems well what kind of esc u want ?

yes he helped me out a lot cause i do not have 90.00 buck to waste and not be able to use made me very happy ,i had given myself a headache lolthanks to all that helped have a good day
