How did you mount your Li-Polys on your HB??
I recently got my E-tec's 2 cell Li-Polys. I wanted to get a consensus of how everyone mounted their LiPo's on their HB's. I currently have mine sitting horizontally with the back end zipped tied to the 2 frame rods...but i can't get my canopy to fit now
I remember seeing a couple members on here that have theirs mounted diagonally so the canopy would fit. Could you please explain how you did this? Do you need some kind of mounting plate for that?
Show off your battery mounting to where the battery is held down well, center of gravity is maintained, and the canopy fits.

How did you mount your Li-Polys on your HB??
Yeah that's one picture i remember.... So how did you do that?
From what i can see in the picture is you wrapped a long piece of velcro longitudally around the battery. Then you installed a cross-member bar on the landing gear and on the front end and somehow attached the battery's velcro strip to each of the bars??
Is this correct?
A short and sweet step-by-step directions would be awesome.
Thanks for your help!!

I think you got it. Anyway, I've made a draft of the structure, my apologies if there's no dimension on it but I'm sure this will help.

that's a very good idea, I'm gonna be running a gy 240 also, if you don't mind, I think I'll copy yours
You don't quite show how you connected the back of the upper rods... could you explain a bit, also, what size rods are you using and how rigid does the assembly seem?
Thanks!

Good point astronut30.....
I would assume you have to drill a hole on that front part of the frame and slide the rod in with a little CA glue.
Some clarification avance_x?

That's what I was thinking too, but that is a vital part as it's pretty much holding up the whole assembly and was concerned that ca is enough to hold it. I just had a thought though, if the rods were long enough, then the excess length will help hold it up too....
So where's a good place to order them rods and what size? I doubt I'll find any locally...

How did you mount your Li-Polys on your HB??
I simply made a mount out of some old HB parts, but just about anything will do and the canopy slips on with no problems. The pics follow and I apologize since I am using a very cheap camera

How did you mount your Li-Polys on your HB??
That's weird.....i have mine set up now the same way as Gazoo's and my canopy does not fit at all. The end of the battery hits the canopy before i can clamp it down.
My LiPoly battery is from EFlightDesigns......maybe theirs is a little bigger?

If you scroll a little further down the page on the link provided above, you'll see how I mounted my Li-Polys. My canopy fits fine and you can't even see the battery when it's on. Better yet, it adds NO weight. A couple of #8 rubber bands holds it all in place instead of the "birdseed" holders.

Astro/Platinum, sorry, too tired when I made the dawing.... You're right I did drill a hole and have them CA'd.
Here's my trick on drilling the holes to hold the carbon rods rigidly... I drilled the holes just below the thickness of the frame ( , )
But Astro is also right, the length of the rod inserted will help hold the whole assembly as well. I'd suggest 2 cm for best results
BTW, I've used are the carbon rods from my training gear which I've trashed after several flights.
