Default TT-01 questions

I'm looking at the TT-01's and am wondering if someone could tell me why the Enzo Ferrari TT-01 Kit is alot cheaper than the others, or if there are any differences (other than rims, and body)

Is it like the DF-02's and just the shell is different, and one was more popular than the other?

Also will HPI 200mm bodies fit on it?

I had the enzo, it is all normal tt 01 stuff until you get to the rear, the wheel axle stub had a longer shank and the 12mm wheel hex is about twice as thick maybe 12 mm vs 6 on the df 02, thats the only difference I ever noted, when compairing to other tt 01s it should be a little more costly, are you compairing to "plain" tt 01s? they have the TT 01D which is the drift, the TT 01 LED with lights and the TT 01 E which has a few upgrades to the chassis.
I was getting varous TT 01s from Champ RC in Japan for $90-100 shipped, with the yen gaining ground on the dollar they are in the $110-120 range now.
Even though the site is in japanese if you have the tamiya part number a simple english search will pull it up if its in stock, they don't got the 58302 enzo however. Good Luck

You did add in another question whats the differences between the standard TT01, the TT01E, and drift kit (ok drift I'm guessing tires)

And whats this TT-01ES chassis I see.

as far as I know the ES is the RTR version of the tt 01 E, uses some cheaper materials for lower prices
I know there were little updates for the E chassis, a new top deck, new shock towers, ta 05 steering and the front knuckles were also changed(E=enchanced)
the drift does come with different shocks and tires, it also has adjustment for droop and camber but not caster if I remember right, it also has a sport tuned motor instead of a silver can.
I might be wrong but I though there were TT 01 LED and TT 01E LED.
there is also the tt 01 R, for race, kinda pricey never tried one.

the LED ones didn't have any special marking just a $30 higher price tag

OK thinking about getting the enzo seeing theres not a huge difference (well not enough to warrant spending more in my case), and none of em come with the body I want so thats not important.

thinking HPI Trans-am, Trueno AE86, Silvia, RX-7, or Skyline (last 3 would end up quite a bit cheaper than the tamiya kit with those bodies)
hmm seems the bodies I want are 190mm's do those fit right? Thought they were 200's(if its just the rear tires I got a diff set already)

Now if it was the 85 trans am there woulda been no questions as to which I would get(yes I know in japan there is a 85 trans-am body but last I checked it cost $70 + shipping)

Nah I'm pretty sure my TT01E is a 190mm chassis. They should all fit no problems. If anything you'll need offset wheels to fill a 200mm body with the TT01 cars.

ps. If the enzo is not a tt01e I'd recommend getting one that is, because they did some good upgrades you'll want at a later date. They separated the shock mounts from the gearbox/diff housing for a start because breaking the mount meant a new housing The hubs on the E are the ones from the TGS (nitro) version of the car and they're stronger. The cups off the diff are improved. I think the steering is improved, and there's prob some stuff I forgot too

ahh thx was wondering the differences seeing the specs list isn't that detailed.
from the specs they seem to be identical which is why I asked
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAUND&P=7 this one should work then, and its only like $15 more

Would HPI RS4 Evo shocks work on it? I have a set laying around from a RS4 I kinda cannibalized for parts to make a rally car

One additional question to the shock one are the diffs, diff gears, and rest of the drive chain metal?
I know of one on-road that use plastic diff gears that melt under any real power.

I looked at the Enzo TT-01 kit before I bought the Schnitzer BMW M3 Evo TT-01 kit instead about a month ago for my kids.

From what I could see, the Enzo came either 1) without an ESC or 2) with a mechanical speed controller (the old resistor type driven by a servo).

For $10 more the BMW came with the Tamiya TEU-104BK ESC which seemed like a better deal to me.

well I have a new tamiya 27t sports tuned motor sitting on a shelf( and a few other motors), and 2 brand new TEU 104s I'm never gonna use so can care less about electronics

Planning on dropping a Brushless system in which is why I'm particularly concerned about the diffs. I tried Brushless on a RC once that had a plastic gear in the diff and it liquefied in like 2-3 minutes. If its drive chain is like the DF-02 then there is no issues seeign I know the plastic drive shafts can take the abuse.

tt 01 is all plastic, ring and pinion as well as the gears in the diff itself, if you want metal you can replace, diff gears in metal are 51008
not sure as far as the ring and pinion gears go, the plastic tt 01 replacement stuff (51004) was under $4 for two diff housing cups, two ring gears and two pinions. so I never tried it, I don't see any reason why the df 02 metal ring and pinion wouldn't work as its the same diff housing cup.

thanks
just found the manual the drive chain looks identical to the DF-02 so the gears look like it should all work
The crown gear pinions are like $5 for 2 off tamiyas site so no biggie.
Gonna order me one, but wait till I get it to order the gears to make 1000% they are the same

after I thought about it for a while I am sure they are the same as I have ran the ball diff and one way for a tt 01 in my df 02 without issue, they both have a proprietary ring gear but do not come with the pinion crown gear so the stock df 02 one was used, typical problems with ball diff getting loose and burning but no gear issues with either, the one way is just not right for my off road driving style, I like em on road, off road I prefer the stock gear diff. If this tt 01 is going to be a basher you should spool the rear, the added traction is worth the slight push you get IMO.

no need seeing I should be getting it a day after damn tower ships it... I also gotta take one of my DF-02's apart anyways to trace the shock towers so I can fabricate a part for another project I have.
Sheesh placed order on monday and they STILL have not shipped the thing.
