definitely take a look at the new hpi firebolt, its waterproof and just as durable as a rustler would be, plus the electronics are from castle so they'll be way better than the velineon system. its not released yet but it looks like it will be worth the wait! here's a link:http://www.bigsquidrc.com/hpi-e-firestorm-flux-10t/<br type="_moz" />

i've got a bandit vxl with a 9.6v nimh and im hitting some big high speed numbers for a nimh battery. i beat mine and have only broken caster blocks. i love mine. the bandit and rusty are pretty much the same car. ones a buggy body, the other is a truck.

neither, they're both very expensive for what you get
they're 15 year old designs, with a mediocre brushless setup
expand your horizons

for under $350, the slash 4x4 is better than your earlier choices (although it's still traxxas)
for $240, you can get a brushless AE SC10 RTR
look around at all the options, with $350 you can end up with a pretty nice RC, or you could end up with a rustler or bandit.

Associated, HPI both offer some great RTR packages right now at great prices. If your $350 budget has to cover not only the vehicle but batteries and a charger also, then plan to spend $250 or so on the vehicle and the rest on support gear.
