Slayer 3.3. The T-Maxx is fragile like my E-Maxx was. And if down the road, you decide that you want to race, you will already have a race-worthy vehicle. Never driven a Slayer but heard many good things about them.

Slayer is better than the T-maxx.
If you're going to get a nitro Traxxas, get the Revo. Period.
Alternatively, HPI Savage X4.6 is superior to all of them.

Slayer by a mile. I don't fancy a truck that's likely to break in half if I cartwheel it, which a right-out-of-the-box Maxx is prone to do.
Slayer = Revo + short course body + roll cage + shorter suspension components + short course tires. They are more or less the same damn thing.

I've actually handled/driven a 2.5 Maxx. The bulkhead design is really bad. There's four screws, two on each side, that hold it onto the main chassis, and these screws are just about touching each other. The beams through which they go aren't much wider than the screws themselves, I'd estimate about five or six mils thick at most. There's no other support, those two beams are all that holds that end on. It is a bad design that manifests as the front diff, casing, wheels, suspension, and part of the steering linkage coming off in rather light crashes.
Rarer, but still possible, is the ass end breaking free.
Consider yourself lucky that the design has held, but I suggest you buy a couple of aluminum bulks anyways. They'd be the first hopup I got if I were to buy a Maxx. You never know when they'll let go, and it's better to have stronger parts on hand and not need them than no spares and have a failure.

With a T-maxx your best bet is to just replace every part with that from a Revo or Savage. Then you'll have a good truck.
ThunderbirdJunkie has had two T-maxxes. If you don't break a T-maxx, you might as well have an on road car[&:]

I used to race 1/10 nitro touring, i drive my maxx nothing like that. Yea, i know about that weak spot, and it is WEAK and a poor design IMO. I've seen my buddies hit a fence at about full speed and rip the rear end right off, but that was because he wrecked BAD. I dont drive my rc into anything at full speed nor try to jump over houses or things of the such either though. I might be lucky, maybe im a little easy on it, i just dont see it being nearly as bad as people make them out to be. AAMOF, i've spent quite a bit more time keeping my bros Savage running.... Not a fanboy of Traxxas, actually a losi/hpi fan more than any other. Just dont get it i think im the last tmaxx fan...
