depends on his skill level, if he has other rc experience with similar vehicles get him the 3s, but if you think it may be too much then just buy the 2s<div>

2S. 3S is going to be too much, the truck will be all but uncontrollable.

3s is not to much if he uses the training mode on the esc. If your bashing get the 3s if your racing somewhere the rules will most likely limit you to 2s.

If you use training mode why waste the money on a battery you aren't going to fully use? Doesn't make sense. It's like wiping before ya poop. Just get the 2S, even that will throw the truck around like a ragdoll if you aren't careful.

Because when he does get used to it he has the potential to achieve max speed. Without it he will always want more because he knows that more is possible. I know that too much power brings me big happiness, at least for a little while. Just pick up an extra tube of C/A for the tires because on 3s you will be re-gluing tires.

Well seems the majority say 2s so I have 2 2s 3600 mah packs that have about 12 cycles through them so they broke in all ready I just going to give them to him and see how he makes out. ATM he is happy with the crappy NIHM batts that the car comes with lol so he should love the 2s set up. Thanks for the input all.

2s is perfect for just bashing around. i have a 3s lipo and 3 2s lipos. I prefer the 2s for bashing so much more because it's actually controllable. i don't have a slash but my rusty just rolls if i take too sharp of a turn on 3s and i can never actually hit the jumps unless i am about half throttle anyway.
