hey guys,i recently blew my k4.6 in my savage ss and want to try some different power.i was looking at picco .28 but thats sounds like tunning and leaks can be a pain so now iam looking at LRP .30 or .28,any insights on either?iam just bashing and want something awesome and easy to tune, if any ideas about a good set up for savage with either engine (clutch, pipe, gearing, etc) i would like to hear em. thanks for any help, kevin.

Both motors rock .... From what I hear the .28 revs higher . I'm runnin the Losi 454 with a Ofna jammin jp-3 pipe (it's a Lrp .28 with different carb) . Even with different carb that's on my motor it holds a tune great . I'm runnin 18/47 gears and a 2 speed with 21/25 chassis and it will flip when ever I want it to ...it also revs fast and makes backflips easy with little air ..... IMO the .28 is the better basher

My bro just recently got the 28 spec 3. Absolutly love that engine. With 20/51 gearing, and the higher-top-speed 3rd gear, it hit 50mph even. Loves to wheelie too. I want one for my Maxx, although it would probably rip it apart.

IMO the 28 for a normal size Savage, the 30 for an XL..

...... Them numbers are crap .... I think the hp is more like 1.85 give or take a bit ... Engine manufactures blow up the figures alot ....... I got my Losi 454 .28 brand new for $135 to my door off fleabay.

don't believe what you hear about the Picco 28...honestly its a better running and tuning engine then any of the LRP's...the speculators on these forums have given the engine a bad name, but it is definitely not warranted..... The LRP's don't tune any easier then a Picco, that is nothing more then a myth...........

We just swapped out a SH 28 P8 to a Nova 28-7 RT and the tuning on the Nova was much much better.........

If your a raw novice stick to the Sh....not because they tune nice ( as they really don't when compared to a quality engine) but because they are dirt cheap if you kill one learning to tune..... But once you have the basics of tuning a quality engine will respond and tune much better then a Taiwanese built SH..........
