Default Let's see that track/bashing spot!!!!

Whether it is a stand-alone track, one in our backyards, on road, off road, fast or slow, we all love our favorite tracks and bashing spots for good reason! So LET'SSEE'EM!!!!

I took this video instead of several pictures this past Saturday during our between-rounds water down. It was such a nice day for outdoor racing, sunny and cloudless all day. This is the 1/8 scale track, and it is kind of a mixture of sand/clay. To the right, when the camer pans that way, is where the equally-sized all-clay 1/10 scale track is being built, and indoors is another smaller (100'X45') off road clay race track. Let's see videos and/or pics of YOUR favorite place to break things!!!

Added after the fact: Pics of the indoor track, couple different layouts, most recent one take two weeks ago is shown with my truck and laptop in the pits (foreground)

I used to bash my HPI Baja 5B here:
All these shots were taken from where I stood to drive the car. You can see the Baja on the right in this photo.

You can see the Baja in this shot. This place was big for WOT passes and nothing there to crash into to break the Baja on. But that red dust is pretty abrasive. I left some big rooster tails of dust there.

Here are the photos stitched together, kind of small:

That spot I labeled as the "drivers stand" is elevated about 12 feet higher than the area I ran the Baja in. And there was this nice ramp of dirt to drive the baja in and out of there. You can see that "ramp" in the last photo before the panarama shot.

But there are now two reason I don't bash there any more.
1- I had to move. It was two blocks from my house
2- Its gone now anyway. The builder has sinced filled it in and paved streets over there.

All I have now is just a boring grass field to bash at about a mile from home.

In the second video, the truck with the checkered flag on its rear (and pink/green) is, I am almost positive a Classic RC driver, local guy from out my way. If it is who i am thinking of, he is one hella fast guy! One of our better drivers. Of course, theres the one in millions chance its just someone with the same exact airbrushing job as him. Wont name names tho.

Here's what we built in Dubai. It has the potential to be a really great place, but we need financial backing of some sort.

Everything we did to make this came from private donations and a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

The lane borders (old cargo vessel mooring lines from the port) and water tanks we got for free, just needed to hire the truck to transport it and bulldozer to load the truck. The driver's stand was already in place. The biggest expenditures were the JCB and trucking the water in (which is still the biggest on-going cost) Everything else we scavanged, donated or purchased with donation funds.

That's me standing in front of the JCB as it drops the first load on the track.

Ha...yah...that...[:@]

I should take some more updated pics.

This was our first attempt at building a track. It's quite big. A good lap is around 48 seconds or so if memory serves me correctly.

That's way too many rhythms in that section. We took out the first 3 bumps. We also filled that 'dip' back up, it was caving in on the sides. That rhythm section isn't actually the furthest lane....there's a full 'back straight' behind it. That's been widened considerably due to the distance from the drivers stand. A lane that far away needs to be 1 & 1/2 times wider than the other lanes.

The back straight now has a couple of jumps on it, a quick double once you come off the corner table top in the far left and another closer to the end of the straight to slow you down as you head into the corner. We've also built up a decent sized burm in that back corner just to help the speed demons out a bit. But if you take that last jump on the back straight too fast, you'll still end up off the track.

Another thing is that that dirt in the front straight on the right to center has been taken out, it's now a straight flat run at that first double at the end of the front straight....which you ABSOLUTELY have to hit at the right speed to land the jump just right on the back end of the 2nd birm to make the hard right. If you don't and you go too fast, you can actually clear the entire track and end up in the desert. But most often if you hit it too fast, the car catches and goes for some serious cartwheel tumbles through the spin cycle.

This track is hard and hungry. It feasts on a diet of ANYTHNG with wheels and almost every weekend sees some sort of breakage. The compound is compacted salt flats dirt. A bit like crumbling concrete that likes to sprout rocks.

Having said all that, we've moved into the summer months now and I don't think we're going to see too much used of the track until about mid September or so. It's just so freeking hot now and the track doesn't have lighting or electricity at the moment, so no nice and cool night driving.

Like I said, with a bit of funding, this place could just be OMG!!!

I'll try and dig up some more current pics.
