I've been on 2.4 since it came out. After a few months... all my 72 stuff got sold.

In the past 3 years... I've only had one issue. My T-rex 450 fell out of the sky. It was a brown-out... but that's because the BEC in the ESC couldn't take the load. I replaced it with a good regulator... and it's been rock solid.

I did this post because, as some of you may now know, I'm trying to organize a Jets Rally here in QC,Canada

And we found a site, but it's near an other club and the MAAC director ask me to limite our jets pilot to be on 2.4
so they wont have to manage the frequency between the club and us...

So I was doing this poll to know how many of us aren't on 2.4... ;-)

Robin I run the Plum Island events and next year we wil be on 2.4 only. We have had no problems. We have only had 2 or 3 pilots on 72 and 2 ov the have already converted to 2.4

Robin,

I'm about the only one left in the New England Area that I know of still on 72MHZ on my turbine Jets. I am on 2.4 on my EDF Jets. However, I'm reluctantly moving my turbine Jets off of a perfectly good and reliable JR 10X 72 MHZ system to 2.4GHZ. The reason you state for 2.4 GHZ only and a conflicting field on 72 MHZ is about the only reason I consider valid for limiting events to 2.4GHZ. I'm sure others have differing opinions and 2.4 only is easier in that you don't have to have a frequency board and If someone else turns on you probably won't get shot down on 2.4 unless too many someone's all turn on at the same time. Hopefully any of the channel spacing and frequency hopping bugs are all worked out by now as I prepare to take the plunge into 2.4GHZ. Thank you for putting this event together.

I am on 2.4 for all my high dollar models. But 72 is still very useful. My nice 72mhz stuff is still very valuable to me and in some cases (like airborne video) the 72mhz is still superior as it has greater total range, better ability to stay linked at low altitudes far away, and those models do not fly fast so an occasional glitch here or there is far better than a signal loss and re-boot at the edge of the usable radio range. I am flying line of sight, I don't operate the model by FPV but I do rely on having a good link if trees or clutter partially gets between the model and the transmitter. That's where 72mhz is still superior. Also, I still have a couple old 72 radios that are set up for buddy boxes and trainer setups for the kids. The hardware is worth far more to me than I can sell it for.

For jets and high dollar models I extremely favor the rock solid, glitch free, RF tolerant and fast 2.4 radios. Also my 2.4 transmitters have some of the latest mixing and gee whiz stuff that makes some of the flight control stuff I like to do possible. I've never looked back on owning 2.4 even though nothing is bullet proof.

Hey Guys,

Also all Jets and other Models are converted complete to 2.4 Ghz since years around 2007 with Spektrum and Fasst, first JR 10X than Futaba 14MZ and JR DSX12 - No Problems at all -

Since a Month now I and also Dad change complete from Spektrum to Graupner Hott 2.4 Ghz...Radio is the MX20 Hott. Also no issues till yet.

Futaba FASST 2.4 since it was released, within 2 months sold all my 35meg gear.
Use it on Jets, Heli's, props, electric...
Would never go back, best system/gear out there.
