There will not be a CA Jets at ButtonWillow in 2012.

However, the club is planning a gathering for 3/29-4/1. Further details & an official announcement will be made after the club meeting on the 14th of Jan.

If any of you have ever put on a Jet show then you know what it takes. If you haven't then I suggest you try and see how many of you A.) succeed and B.) at the end of the show say (with a smile on your face) "I can't wait to organize this again next year!!!"

Then you will understand. The people who run shows year after year are truly a breed apart. It takes a certain type of person to do this and if there is someone like that out there I am sure they would have stepped up by now to take over the reigns, doesn't sound like it though.

I will miss CA Jets as well but I also understand the huge undertaking and effort it required.

Well said Ian.

It is also important to note that Kenny and Dave aren't involved in the hobby anymore. Neither of them made a RCU post to promote the event last year.

Not as heavily at least. I am working on getting my Hornet flying through some help of Dave's so he will have cart blanche when it comes to flying it when he wants to, but yes, for the most part you are right Tony.

That is bad news but totally understandable... I cant imagine the stress of putting an event together

But let's at least do what David is suggesting: a fun get together. I remember a willow run at the end of 2010 (november I think). It was one of the most fun get togethers i have attended. No awards, no shows, no nothing... just show up and fly

Should we start blocking the dates David is suggesting?

Jack

there will be more info posted next week after our Meeting next Saturday.

Dave will have more info as well, but the "event" will be exactly as you described
above.

we will have a landing fee and a controlled flight line. other than that, its
all about fun and a fundraiser for field improvements

Dave Searles will follow up again with more info soon.
